You should be thinking of the scene in the tv show Extras.

Dumbledore has an unfair advantage in the magic department due to having the elder wand. If this were a magic vs magic fight, Dumbledore wins by default. However, if you turn this into a no-magic fight, IMO humble opinion, Gandalf kicks Dumbledore's arse no question.

That FB post isn't quite accurate.

Dumbledore doesn't need a wand to do all magic, neither do many wizards.

The best wizard warriors are the ones that can think on their feet and use their enemies' strength against them.

I know I didn't join in the best wizards in Harry Potter debate, and I saw many fail to realize this. What makes you a good wizard is not being powerful, but it's what you do with the power that you have.

Gandalf was too busy getting caught and dying and rescuing people at the last minute to be considered ahead of the game.

Dumbeldore had the foresight to prepare what will come of Hogwarts, Harry, and Voldemort all the while being very educated in all things magic.

Dumbeldore could have beat any wizard in a duel Elder Wand or not. Because he was smart and in tune with magic enough to find a way to win.

It's doesn't matter how you win, as long as you win.

If you liked that scene, you should consider renting the 2 seasons of Extras (12 episodes) and watch them. The episodes with Patrick Stewart, Orlando Bloom, and Daniel Radcliffe are some of the best.

Dumbledore didn't need to come back to finish his work.

Plus, Gandalf may have been cool and all but he was mainly battling non-magical people. He lost against his only magical competition...twice.

Dumbledore had to remain on top his entire life vs. magical people. People trained in what he was trained it.

Dumbledore is like the Michael Phelps of swimming.
Gandalf is like a man in a swimming race vs. a whole lot of quadriplegics. He doesn't have to do much to beat them.

If you've read ALL of Tolkien's writings and all of Rowling's HP novels, then there is no question that Gandalf wins in a battle between the two.

Now, who is more likable as a character? That's a different discussion.

He only lost to Saruman once. And then he was able to shatter his staff. If he is able to do that to Saruman's staff, I'm sure he'd be able to do that to Dumbledore's wand.

Also Gandalf took on and killed a fricking Balrog, just for the hell of it. That is far, far more badass than anything Dumbledore took on.

Dumbledore is like a Muhammad Ali, in that he is or at one point was the world's best fighter. Gandalf is like an unholy man god who was able to take down a fricking Rhino with his bare hands.

The flaw in your logic is you have only 1 person to compare Gandalf to. That is Sauromon.

Dumbledore you have the entire wizarding community to compare him to, and he shines above them.

I see it as the best of the best for Dumbledore. And the guy setting world records in speed at the special olympics because of his backwards springy legs. He's on another plane...and untouchable...that's only because he has that extreme advantage. If you got another guy with backwards springy legs, he's going to get a reality check.

No, I've got a fricking Balrog. Dumbledore hasn't taken down anything close to being that badass.

So you don't think Dumbledore has ever battled a dragon?

Didn't Gandalf die while battling the Balrog?

You still haven't realized my point. You can't compare Gandalf to anything in Middle Earth, but that doesn't make him more powerful than Dumbledore. Even Harry Potter was more powerful than humans.

Dragons are dumb creatures that just breath fire and can be taken down by advanced wizards. Balrogs are intelligent hellspawns that are immortals, and wield ridiculous weaponry to their disposal.

Gandalf the Grey did, but he also took down the Balrog in the process. Now we are talking about Gandalf the White, a more powerful form of Gandalf. So Gandalf the White never took on the Balrog, but his inferior form did. So that should be saying something.

Dude, you are like so behind in this argument it isn't even funny.

Here's the deal. If we talk about the better wizard we can only do so in relation to other wizards.

No one has challenged this yet. Until they can, Dumbledore is the more powerful wizard by default.
