LSU is now 3 games behind 5th place with 9 games to go.

Best of luck to the Gamecocks as they finish against Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Alabama!

How does this work? If we win the west do we get the 2 seed or do teams get seeded based on overall conference records regardless of division?

It's too bad Vandy doesn't play anybody around us but South Carolina will really help LSU out.

LSU has Bama, TN, and State left to play. Those three teams have an SEC record of 23-40 (0.365).
LSU is one game back of State. State has to play TN, Old Miss, LSU (21-42 0.333)
LSU is two games back of Old Miss and Auburn.
Old Miss has to play SC, State, and Ark (35-28 0.556)
Auburn has to play GA, Bama, and TN (28-35 0.444)
State has the easiest path, followed by LSU, and then Auburn. Old Miss has the toughest path by far.
Also - LSU owns tiebreaker vs. Old Miss since we won series. Auburn owns tiebreaker vs. LSU since they won series.
Assuming LSU catches State and wins season-ending series, Old Miss is the next likely team to catch, which shouldn't be a problem since they annually self-destruct.

Yes.
The division winners get the top 2 seeds, regardless of record. The 2nd place finishers in each division get the next 2 seeds. The rest of the field of 8 is then seeded by record, regardless of division.

question that might be stuipd
if we get to the tourny and win a couple games but don't win it. we can still have a change to go to a regional correct?

yes
We have a chance of going to a regional without making the SEC tournament in the first place.

Of course. If we can win 6 or 7 more SEC games, we will probably make a regional regardless of the SEC tourney.
Now of course if we were able to go on some awesome streak and win out and then win the SEC tourney, we will actually get to host a regional.

Standings updated (with division records for the SEC West) assuming an LSU win tonight.

Really?
My official apologies to Flagship Nation. Y'all are the best team in the West. In my attempt to grapple with the impending doom of LSU, I was grasping at straws for how LSU could pass up other teams, and I thought (at least I thought a few weeks ago) the SOS for Arkansas going forward might be too much for the Hogs. Not true. Y'all have been getting better and better all season.
Best of luck in the NCAA playoffs to y'all. I'll be cheering for the Hogs!

LSU is still only 3 games behind Arkansas, and Arkansas has South Carolina next week.
I have a feeling LSU wins the West.

Technically, Arkansas is in second since whoever wins the west automatically gets the 2 seed.
