I hear you, I actually stay motivated by staying away from this thread and FBD board in general. FBD thread makes me want to drink and all the cheating in this thread makes me avoid it

Dude my knees have been hurting so badly lately. Running makes it 10 times worse. I can't deal with it. I can't do squats or leg presses right now, either. Anything involving my knees is just a no-go, besides walking. I have 800mg ibuprofen tablets and sometimes that doesn't even kill the pain.

Try doing VERY minimal weight on the machines to help condition them. I had problems with my elbows a while back. Someone told me to do cable extensions with little to no weight and eventually the pain stopped and I was able to start lifting again. It took a while to get back in the swing of things but it helped me a ton. Also maybe some light swimming can get you into the movements without gravity saying "frick your joints!".

It's not just a working out thing. I've had knee pain my whole life. Rheumatoid arthritis runs rampant in my family and I'm afraid I may have it and it has been exacerbated by many years of being so heavy. I've been to a doctor about it, last time he just said it was inflammation of the cartilage under the knee cap. I think if I went back every time it hurt he'd keep me on some medication. But I'm hard headed and hate taking pills so for the most part I deal with it. I go through periods of knee pain like this.. the cartilage inflames and they hurt for a few weeks, maybe a month, then eventually it goes away again. It's just something I deal with and I am dealing with right now.

You're right. I should do this. Walking is actually very beneficial too.. It's about more than just calories burned.
