interesting theory in the middle of nonsense on DarkUFO:
so, Jacob/MIB is really just Tyler Durden.....great
quote:
I'm Sorry I Keep Stealing Jacob's Lines...
After the catfight, Flocke apologizes twice to Kate. He still seems overly concerned about keeping everyone happy, which makes sense because he knows that most people have been kept in the dark for too long. In trying to make amends, he accepts full responsibility for Claire's attack on Kate, and then uses Jacob's own line: "I'm sorry this happened" - yet another in a long line of direct connections between these two characters.
I've discussed the possibility that Jacob and the MIB are two halves of the same entity, and we see two types of evidence that point to this. The first are the mirrored and reversed traits: white and black, chaos and order, secrecy and full disclosure. Other evidence however, comes in the form of direct parallels between these characters: shared ideology, symbolism, and even identical dialogue. As these last few episodes fly by, keep this in mind and try to look for these things. More and more I get the feeling we're barking up the right tree.

I think he was genuinely surprised to hear that, I think he was expecting to hear that the other people on Hydra were either nobody of importance or possibly more of Jacob's angels.
Doubt it. The Monster is almost totally omnipotent to where he knew when Locke would arrive on the timeflash. If he knew when and where Locke would arrive, he should know that Widmore entered the realm of the Island.

I have to hijak this thread for a second to say:
Holy shite that's funny

If that theory is correct and they are each half of the same entity then this show is the biggest suck in history. Yes. I said it. but I don't think that theory is correct.

anyone else think it's a bit odd that as a cop - he helped Kate escape the airport?
First think I thought too.

I dont think you're giving nearly enough credit to the water barrier. Smokie has an obvious problem with water, plus there aren't any sonic fences on /Hydra island. He may be all powerful on the island, but outside of that, he's clueless

Then why are they building a fence to keep him out on the Hydra if the MIB can't get over there in the first place?

I've thought about that, and agree it's a valid argument
My presumption is that, now that Jacob's dead, he can now leave the island, but only travel in the form of a body, in this case Locke. And, he can re-manifest the smoke monster once, and if he lands on Hydra island. But somehow, still his "supernatural" powers still are confined to the island itself, therefore, he still lacks the ability to "see" beyond the island.
I know, it's not the most sound basis to go off, but I stand by my assertion that he was genuinely surprised to hear that Charles Widmore was on Hydra.

I think you've been conned. They aren't building a fence to keep him out. They are building a fence to keep him in.
BOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else think Richard was on the Black Rock, but that wasn't his initial arrival on the island?

quote:Certainly seemed that way. FLocke asked him about how he liked being "out of the chains" and when he went to blow himself up he was looking at the chains as if those were the ones FLocke was referring to.

An interesting proposition that I've considered before but I think it would purely be based on speculation...unless you can point out something that I'm missing.

One thing people haven't talked much about in the Ben-centric episode was Richard's surprising lack of faith. He has been the one person who followed Jacob and seemed to have absolutely no doubts regarding his purpose. Even after getting the crap beat out of him he told Flocke where to go.
But then all of a sudden he had lost all faith and was ready to kill himself. Big shock to me.

How many more series of "others" can we be introduced to? This show is just too much now. Thank god it's almost over.
