Yes. I can't remember who it is, but there is a really good player in CBB whose parents didn't want him playing AAU because of all the sketchy shite associated with. I just heard this the other day, hopefully someone can help me out with who it is.

Yeah, there are a ton of guys from foreign countries who come over as projects. But they have more baggage than most non-New York City AAU players.

This whole thread is basically a load of horseshite, except the Wall part.
It is definitely possible and not that uncommon. And tons of high school starters don't play AAU.
The part about not playing Varsity unless you are in an AAU program by 10 (or even 13 or 14) is particularly misleading. There are NBA players who never played the sport at all until their teens, or even high school.
