I've been once and it was okay. Too many other choices IMO that are better.

Overpriced and lines are too long, but the Ferdi is a pretty damn solid sammich. So long as there is no line, I always enjoy the hell outta them.

Pretty good sandwich and the line moves very quickly, but I have never been there during tourist time, especially for the bowls.

Had not been to Mother's ever until a few months ago. Got the po-boy and was thoroughly unimpressed. Didn't know what exactly I was ordering so the cabbage and mustard took me by surprise. Also, the "debris" ladled over the meat was underwhelming to say the least.

Can't speak to any other items they have.

If you enjoy standing in a large, sardine-like line, then yelling your order to a staff member, then being yelled at by a staff member (a little later when the food's ready), and paying way too much for a mediocre sandwich - then sure, Mother's is your place.

Otherwise - no freaking way in hell!

It is perhaps the ultimate New Orleans tourist trap outside of something in the Quarter.

Best thing is breakfast. The ham or debris biscuits and grits are pretty damn good. Other than that, Johnny's in the quarter and many places around town have much better po-boys.

If you've never been before, and the line is short, then yeah. Love me some Ferdi.

I found it to be pretty terrible. a fat ugly woman that just so happened to be related to my brother's wife was in line a spot or two ahead of me and the worker just laughed in her face and wouldnt take the order. the poor woman and her half retarded husband had to actually leave because the worker was laughing at his wife. besides that, the food was mediocre and the place was a wreck.

Well, if she wouldn't have tried to order 3 big macs and two large fries they would't have laughed at her.

I hear you. this lady is extremely ugly. I am talking scary ugly. 3 chins, big hogjaw looking redhead. piss in her food, laugh behind her back, but at least take the poor womans order. I felt sorry for the poor woman, no human being should be treated like that.

Honestly, she sounds like some of the ladies who were working at Mothers the first and only time I went there 5 or 6 years ago. Those were some mean arse ugly women.
I would have to say, if the attituded and service is always like that, it is a poor showing for tourist to have to see. And like others have said, it is very much on the high price end for that kind of grub.

Just went there for the first time yesterday before the Saints game. It was ok- glad I went after hearing so much about it, but like others have said, its overpriced for the food. The ferdi was good, but you can get it just as good on the Northshore cheaper and with less wait.
