I remember the years when we'd blow out all the in-state teams and lose every other game! Im down with the Quote of someone" Just win baby" i could care less how they win! Just win baby!

I would argue that '01 and '03 were fun, but not the other two.

No, we should dominate some BCS opponents, and not others. And we should dominate all weak sister BCS opponents and non BCS opponents thoroughly and completely.

That sucks for you.
No, it really doesn't, I think it's quite rational and sane.

So if we won every game by one point...then proceed to win the SEC championship and NC by one point, that wouldn't be a fun for you because we didn't blow anyone out.

Yes. The real question is whether The Rant is fun. I ask myself that every now and then (yet keep coming). This is only my 3rd season on (used to be on another board). 2008 was a mess, but it seems a lot worse this year.

LSU football is always about fun for me. I even had fun during the Archer-Hallman-Dinardo era. I think I can weather some lackluster winning.

When this team finds a strong QB or a dominant O-line (or both), it will dominate again.

... oh, and a little pressure on the QB would help too!

Had Saban "sucked the life out of the program"?
This is actually a good point, I think he had sucked the life out of the program in 2004 when he kept flirting with the NFL, kept fans guessing, became obnoxious and ultimately laid an egg in the bowl game and left LSU in a lurch at Christmas time with no coach and no recruiting class. I guess you can see I am no big fan of Saban either, post 2003, but you are clearly deflecting the argument (again), and trying to make this a Miles vs. Saban argument. It is not. It is about Les Miles.

No, because we would have beaten our main rivals (Fla and Bama), and won major championships. I think this would make up for a one point win over Tulane, although there would be some chirping... What the frick kind of reasoning is that?

Getting our arse handed to us by Auburn and UF and then losing to UAB....no, i didnt enjoy that.

Just like i didnt enjoy getting our arse kicked by UF and UGA last year.

It's rational and sane that you can't enjoy watvhing college footbal on saturday nights because our team doesn't dominate?

As fans we have absolutely no impact on the plays, player, or outcome of the game.

The real question is: If you really are not enjoying it, why are you watching?

2000-2004

Oddly enough, those are the years when LSU made the rise to the top under Saban. Still having some bad losses mind you. Those were fun times. The '02 South Carolina game and '03 UGA games were the best (fun-wise) in my opinion.

The only reason things aren't fun now is because of the unrealistic expectations that a lot of fans have, regardless of obvious weaknesses of the team.

Ah. So this is about Les Miles? I thought it was about LSU football and whether it is fun or not. Gotcha.

For the record I wasn't deflecting anything. My answer is abso-fricking-lutely LSU football is still fun. I am already pumped as hell for the Ole Miss game. I think it's gonna be a great game. Will we "dominate" them? Probably not. But that actually makes the game more interesting and fun. I think we have a great chance to win against a tough team in a tough as hell environment. I can't wait to see what happens.

And I wasn't making it about Miles vs. Saban. I was just asking if every mediocre season "sucks the life" out of the program. Obviously not, since, by your own admission, this is more about Miles for you than it is about the team.

When has this ever happened throughout an entire season?

I'm watching less, that's the point. I turned off the Tech game.

I respect your point of view and not trying to deny you having fun, but it's not been fun for some others...just asking the question.

No, it's about Les Miles, I clearly stated that in the opening.

It's about Miles sucking the life out of the team and fanbase, so I guess you could say both.

Yes. And LSU has had two in a row now, this one in some ways worse than last year because it is building on that weak foundation.

Honestly now, does LSU football feel or look as exciting and competitive as it did before the Les Miles culture of lackadaisy set in?

I am not looking for MNC and SECCG every year. I have been around a long time and met LSU in the Dietzel years, grew during the McClendon years, watched the ups and downs up to the DiNardo years (got my hopes up and dashed in his tenure). Then saw a sea change in LSU during Saban's tenure. Now Les Miles is at the helm and I can't help saying, he's a great person but it feels like the rudder's broken and gone.

No, I love the Tigers and will follow them back to those hellish times of yore if necessary. But right now LSU football is not fun and hasn't been for the last two (2) seasons. The buck stops at the top.
