Federal money vs state money, baw.
But fair enough... I'm sure we can find $520M per year in wasteful state spending to pay for this.
So... what state spending are you cutting $520M out of? Be specific.

Please list the sales taxes, property taxes, etc that you pay to the state of louisiana specifically for public schools.
Why do I need to list t explicitly if you and I both know that is how it funded? What exactly is your point here?
AM I magically not paying for public schools through my taxes?

Why? It literally is going to be new spending.
I don't call giving me an option on how my tax money is spent new spending.

You're showing why they call them "entitlements".

Everybody hates entitlements until they feel entitled to them.

Says the guy arguing my taxes don't fund public education

I wouldn't even use this program since my kids have access to good public schools, but by all means keep talking out your arse.

Well, you may know that... but a lot of people in these threads immediately resort to "while i pay property taxes for schools..." despite that fact that $0 of that goes to the state, and $0 of that will thus go to private schools.
If anything, diverting property tax money to private schools would actually be a BETTER plan than this.

This doesn't even make sense.
You have a vote, so you have an option in who you vote for.
If you supported Landry and if your rep voted for this, then they supported new spending. If you don't like this new spending, do your best to vote them out.

I don't know where you went to school, but you are making the argument that whatever school that was, it failed you you and your family.

By the way, unlike the feds, the state can't deficit spend.
Uh like 15% of the muni market are state issued bonds. They absolutely can deficit spend.

What other aspects of state government do we have the option to directly decide "how my tax money" is being spent?
Can I opt out of other government services and instead take that money to a private alternative?
Posted on 4/9/24 at 10:56 am to LNCHBOX
quote:Not even close. Four kids is $30,000 for one year, $150,000 for 5 years. Nobody has paid close to that in taxes directed to schools.
getting the tax money you pay for public schooling back to use at a private school?
This is another handout. Free shite. Section 8'ing private schools should go well.

Why are you acting as if being given that option would be a bad thing? Does it get much more conservative than that?

That's not what he's saying or implying. He's stating what reality is.

If that choice is attached to taking $500M from citizens in new taxes, no.

This is net new spending, net of kids moving from public to private, in the few instances where that may happen.
The goal is to effectively eliminate public schools, and more importantly, diminish the impact of teacher's unions.

Then where is the bill cutting their spending and how much parishes are allowed to tax on them?
