In BR - last couple of days have had highest concentration of mosquitos I’ve ever experienced around my neighborhood.
Anyone else noticed this?
Gonna soak the whole place talstar this weekend, but it feels like a useless endeavor at this point.

Are you talking about the big ones that aren’t really mosquitos?
That’s all I’ve noticed.

Same in Ascension parish. I sprayed two heavy doses of Talstar last weekend. Pretty much zero impact.

No - not the long legged ones, actual mosquitos.
Although I believe those eat mosquitos which may correlate.

I was going to post this. I thought I was going crazy. I’ve asked a few people if they were having that problem and they replied, no. I thought it was just our street. They are crazy bad.

I started to notice how bad they were Tuesday evening, went to brush my horses when I got home and they were all over them. Started noticing the bats coming back out too.
going to hang some of those spartan tubes in the trees out back this evening to see if that helps.

I opened my shades yesterday to look out the window and had dozens and dozens of mosquitos buzzing around the window. I have never experienced that before, especially this early in the year.

I killed at a minimum 40 this am with a fly swatter on back patio and side door. WTH? I've never seen such a high concentration. Even when I was walking the dog they were everywhere above the grass. Did they come out of hibernation due to the warmer temps?

Bats eat mosquitos so that's a plus

They say this but I have never seen a dragonfly eat a mosquito as long as I've been alive

We've always called them mosquito hawks too, but they are actually crane flies. They are harmless, and the adults don't even eat. Their purpose is to mate and lay eggs.

I don't think seeing a dragonfly eating a mosquito would be easy to see. I know they eat them though. We live on a lake with a creek on each side of our property feeding the lake. When we bought the place I was worried about mosquitoes. Fortunately we have lots of dragonflies in the summer. We only very rarely see a mosquito or get bitten by one. Dragonflies are my favorite insect by far. We have a lot of things they like to hunt from around our house like curved trellis hooks that hold hummingbird feeders, wind chimes, bird houses, etc. Dragonflies will perch on them, and every 10 seconds or so they fly away super fast and come back. I know they are dealing death to some unsuspecting insect like a fly or mosquito or nat, etc. They must have voracious appetites. They are so bad a$$. I don't think we could ever have a beehive. It's fun watching them on the shoreline chasing each other in aerial dog fights.

I seen't it. And it's badass.
Was chilling by the pool one weekend and there was a dragonfly on the ground by me. Saw some poor, unsuspecting mosquito start buzzing around right in the dragonfly's line of sight, so I just watched and waited. He stalked him for a while, but then suddenly he made his move and nabbed that son of a bitch in a blink.
And to the OP, yeah I noticed a shite ton of mosquitoes this morning. There's one or two following me in my house now. Wish I had that dragonfly to watch over me as I sleep tonight

I sat and watched them over the summer while tending to my veggie garden. They definitely chase the unwanted bugs around.
