Going for 2 in that situation.

I understand the analytics of it but think it’s such a dumb thing that has become popular lately. I just don’t get it. Kick the dumb extra point and make it a 7 point game

It was the right decision. Terrible play call

I think it’s going to take a few more years before I accept the analytical approach over the common sense approach in football. Just take the xp.

Yeah I was coming here to see if I missed something

I fricking hate when they throw the fade from the goal line

The road I like the call, it’s a gamble but if you get it it puts so much more pressure on the other teams next drive and helps you avoid OT and win it outright.
If you miss it not a huge deal, you have another chance
ETA: also XPs aren’t complete gimmes anymore either like Collinsworth just said

math fails every time 100% of the time with regards to momentum -
Posted on 1/21/24 at 5:02 pm to CalLSU
The time to do it is at 31-30 when the defense is in free fall with puckered anuses
Now if they get another chance to go for 2 there’s no suspense and all of the pressure is on TB. And the DET defense gets 10 minutes to get ready

The math says that you're putting the game on two plays, two 2 point conversions, instead of probably more than two plays if the game goes to overtime. Seems to me that the math, probabilities, says to kick.

The fact that so many on here don’t get it is proof that it is the right call.
It’s simple math. It’s objectively the right call if you’re trying to win the game.

I hope Tampa scores here, but misses the 2 point.

As much as a bonehead as he can be, it’s why I like Dan Campbell. You can tell AWS doesn’t support his decision very often.
Even though he only ever coached against teams I rooted for, Leach was pretty great at this as well.

Huh?

Doesn’t the math also say to go for every time too?

Kick it. Then you can decide whether or not to go for 2 and the win, if you score another TD.

Or you can flip a coin and perhaps get the ball down six and go win the game.
Or you lose the coin flip and you just flip the coin again next time.
Statistically speaking, of course.

No, definitely not.
