Went last night with the family on the way to the gymnastics meet. Was pretty excited for the roast beef po boy. I remember it being pretty good years ago. Absolutely terrible. Ordered the large. It was a little bigger than a hot dog. No flavour and hardly any gravy. Was still hungry so tried some of the kids pizza. I swear I’ve had better frozen pizza

Pastime has always been average. It’s still a good place to go sit down at though.

As they have said, it’s nostalgia but there’s nothing wrong with that. Cities need nostalgic places that you enjoy visiting.

It used to be a fun place to go but I haven't been there in 25 years.

Nothing. It’s the same below average food. It’s just not as fond in your memories.

That joint was always crap. I remember back in the summer of 87 I had a temp job at the DNR, and twice I went to Pastimes.

Got a pizza the first time, and it was disgusting. Massive amount of cheese, few toppings. I had better pizza in the high school cafeteria.

Second time, I got a roast beef poboy. It was as meh as meh can be.

Much like the Fleur de Lis, it's one of those places people from Baton Rouge rave about that is just utter shite.

I went once. It was worse than Fleur de Lis pizza.

If I am going to sit in an old dusty building at least Pinettas is edible.

It’s always been gross if you are an adult.

Most people under 35 don’t appreciate places like the Pastime. They think it’s overpriced but will pay through the adds to door dash or get a Starbucks special blah blend . Been going to Past time for 40 yrs and except for the excessive prices that all food places have had since COVID and Biden it’s a great place. Was there in summer and family loved it. I was there when Mr Joe tended bar and Pat Shingletin ate lunch at the bar often and then went to do the weather.

As a kid I remember the pizza being fantastic and smelled so good in the car when we got take out. But as an adult I always wondered if the pizza had changed or my palate as a kid was crap. Same thing with Fleur de Lis.

Back in college days, several of us would sit at the bar (18 then) and drink 5 or 6 longneck Falstaffs, then eat an oyster po-boy. No complaints.
