Anybody know anything about this club? A friend of mine was fishing in Turtle Bay this summer and followed an unmarked bayou and got run off by a guy in an airboat. I would have to guess their duck hunting isn't as good as it used to be, but they sure as hell keep people out of their ponds in the summer time.

Just curious what the story is on that property. Not much online from what I can see.

Used to be comprised of a lot of blue bloods from New Orleans, and a very old duck club. I was invited to hunt there several times by a member, but Katrina destroyed the then clubhouse and I don't know much about it now, as I have not been in years. The hunting was great at one time, but I imagine that salt water intrusion and land loss has affected that greatly. Kind of a unique operation, and they would put you in a pirogue and tow you, and others, behind a mud boat to your blind. There were a few incidents of boats being swamped and it would look like a plane wreck with all of the stuff in the water. Locals were the guides, and the food was terrific.

Went once as a guest 2010-2011ish. Locals are the guides and cooks. They pick you up from the launch in a big shrimp boat and bring you out there. Dinner and breakfast was served for you and birds were cleaned for you as well.
We did fish it once and got greeted by a guy with a shotgun, but we had a friend whose father was a member and he let us slide.

We were in a guided trip this summer and our guide pointed out part of their “property” line and told us how they will run anyone off.
This was in pretty open water with barely any signs visible. I’m sure it used to be land, but if it’s summertime and in an open water area like that, these folks need to chill out

They ran my arse off when my son and I were fishing. Guy was cordial about it but sure did run us off. I didn’t really see any signs until he ran us out and we fished for another 20-30 min or so then I saw a sign. I did pull a couple keeper reds out of their ‘private water’ before he ran us off!

Made many woodcock hunts with a member that was from WBR parish(sugar family). Invited me several times. Wick made some bird hunts on his property too. This fella is long since gone.

Had a good friend from my younger days whose pop was member spent a weekend there in 85 - great time but that family drank while hunting and that ain’t my gig. Turned down many repeat trips , but drinking while hunting is a no go . Drinking killed said fiend at 51 years old.

Know a current member but we are not friends.

They run people off because they don’t want their marsh torn up or birds harassed.
