I’ve got only one bad experience with Oxford. My daughter went to the game when Eli was QB. She was with a Sorority bunch and they visited the Oxford chapter. While there she had a drink in their yard and was stopped by campus security to check IDs. She said the security was only checking girls with LSU jerseys. She was 3 months from age 21 and got an underage drinking ticket. She knows most of the OM girls were underage too but didn’t get checked.

I said to myself, OK, that’s what a rivalry is all about. I called a lawyer bud of mine in Oxford and he put me in touch with a guy in their DAs office. I explained what happened and asked how much and where to send check. The DA asst told me the fine was FIVE HUNDRED dollars! WTF! It was $100 in Baton Rouge. I told the guy “screw you” and hung up. I didn’t pay it and told my daughter that if you go through Misipee ever again do not get behind the wheel cause you will probably have a bench warrant on you if you get stopped for anything. I’m sure the statute is over now but they weren’t about to get five gogle-eyes from me. There is no telling what the fine is these days. True Story!

Need a parking pass to even get on campus. Better have a plan for parking. They do offer shuttles, but those lots will fill up quick on Saturday with it being LSU. There will be a ton of folks staying in the Grove watching the game on tv. There are a few businesses off campus who offer parking for pay, but again those will fill up quick.

Oxford is a lot better for a baseball weekend than football game. During the spring you can get around town and get into most restaurants. You can probably forget about eating on the Square without a 2 hour or more wait.

Oxford is a cool town. They have jerk fans just like we do. All the negative things you read on here about Ole Miss fans are the exact same thing my Ole Miss friends say about their trips to LSU. Just have to ignore stuff.

Take this man’s advice. If you stay out late on the square, make sure you get to one of those 3 places to get picked up by an Uber. They will not deviate from those spots this weekend. I would start heading to a location around 12:15 because if you wait till close , good luck you’re fricked.

Moes penny bar is a great spot to hang out after the game, good ppl in there. They also have a 24 and up rooftop bar called the blue bistro rooftop. It’s directly across the street from roosters. Pretty cool spot with no young students. If you wanna get assholes to elbows then library is your spot. They usually do have some good music going on tho, just not really into the crowd these days. Loose women for the single man.

Places to eat: Lenora’s, grill house, boure ,Volta, jinsi and st. Leo ( my spot). There are a bunch more, those are the best IMO. Another cool place is the Sip on south Lamar. It’s located in the back of the parking lot across from back 9.

I live here and never go to grove, I just go to a bar with my friends and go the game. I always walk from the square, it’s a 10 min walk to grove and 15 to stadium. Park there if you don’t have a pass and don’t mind walking. The shuttle system will take longer. Hope y’all have fun, it really is a fun experience if you want it to be.

Eating: City Grocery
The Grove: Highly overrated; tents on top of each other; we went years ago and the rules were: You had to hide while mixing a drink; couldn't leave any ice chests with liquor/beer at your tailgate site unless locked and no fifths of liquor out in the open. Rules may have changed since we were there. We beat Ole Miss bad that night and an Ole Miss student cursed me up and down for daring to step under the tent of a tailgate to which we were invited guests. Really rude and nasty. Most folks were hospitable.
Breakfast: Bottletree Bakery is delicious.
