I was in Act 3 when Starfield grabbed my attention, but my Harlot Squad (La'zel, Karlach and Shadowheart) were all still with me.
This game is insane with the amount of decision trees!

She was worthless to me at first now her and Karlach are laying the wood. My main character kind of ducks to be honest but he has some good spells. Shadowheart basically is just a healer for me

You can re-spec Shadowheart into a respectable tank. With the up-leveled Spirit Guardians spell she can clear mobs with a quickness. Change her cleric type from Trickery to Light and Warding Flare/Improved Warding Flare can protect anyone in the party from ranged attacks. For me she has an AC of 26 with medium armor and can hold the middle of most fights and let Lazael and Karach run around with haste or speed potions smacking the poo out of people with 4 attacks a round.
I saw one youtube video where a guy got her up to an AC of 34, making her mostly unhittable.

I'm pretty pissed that I killed off Karlach. Didn't even speak to her - just sniped her with my bow before she noticed me and killed her with the quickness. Had no idea that she could be a playable companion.
Wyll had been whining about killing her every chance he got. So I just smoked her from a distance before giving her an opportunity to gain combat initiative on me. Didn't realize I couldve spoken to her first.
Next time I talk to Wyll at camp after killing her, he says some shite like he isn't sure if we did the right thing about killing her. That let me know I missed a whole bunch of her back story because he was all gung ho about ending her up until that point.
I could really use another melee character in my party too. Dammit, Wyll.

Apparently I’m gay for Gale simply because I talked about Magic. I thought we were just chilling having a few brewskies after a solid days work.
Nothing worse than the two chicks you’re banging and everyone else at camp asking about my “special time” with Gale.
Not that I’m against it or anything but I did NOT just let Lae’zel and shadowhart brawl in an attempt to figure out which one was worthy of being my main girl only for every one to think me and Gale were having magical butt sex.
One of my quicker resets.
