Any tips for a newby? I've read this topic and saw where you need to "forget everything you think about RPG's".

I am a Paladin (typically melee fighter in other games).

theres a bunch of tips but honestly you are best off just googling the question. some published website with noob tips could provide better answers than us.

quick save and long rest often.

The biggest things I have learned:

Save often and prior to places you feel you will fight.

Don’t be afraid to lose a turn or two experimenting with spells and actions. You can always load back up.

At level 5 your party becomes really strong and you want to fight everything, imo.

This. The story lends to you the belief that taking too much time will ultimately be folly, but there's no penalty for long resting. Use short-rests to refresh after fights in areas where you can't long rest, and then long rest asap once you can.

Having a blast. Is it bad that I quicksave and restart if conversations don't go my way? lol

Just sneaked out a goblin and it was a blast, although I had to try it several times

She is my healer so I hope I do not lose her. Pretty much the only thing she has been good for tbh

Yep! All of your group (whether camped or not) gets the same exp. If they have enough to level, the next time you add them to your group you'll go through the levelling process on them.
