Doesnt matter where it is from as long as it is made by an Asian person.

I don’t get donuts often but it’s hard to beat a fresh Mary lees glazed

Never had one. I've seen them in Houston, and I think Baton Rouge now has one on Essen Lane, but I've never stopped.

I’m more of a savory breakfast person but in the event that we’re grabbing donuts it’s usually either maple bacon for me or Holland cream from Nords.

The place by my house makes good kolaches too, I start with one of those and then do a fritter for dessert.

Simple hot and fresh glazed donut from Lucky Morning Donuts (Nicholson and Gardere south of LSU).
Pairs nicely with their smoked beef sausage kolache (uses good sausage, not the nasty cocktail weenies that most places use) or boudin kolache.

Best donuts I have ever had. Some shops are better than others for some reason.

Choccolate glaze with some coffee does the trick for me

How Krispy Kreme hasn't opened a location in Ascension, Livingston, and the across the River is beyond me.

I’ve honestly never eaten a bad doughnut in my life.
Krispy kreme is pretty damn close to bad.

There is nothing worse than a cold Krispy Kreme donut

Southern Maid glazed donut.
Best glazed I've ever had.
Elvis loved SM. There was one Southern Maid shop in my neighborhood in Bosser (Swan Lake)

Most serious Elvis fans know he did only one advertisement during his career. It was for one of his favorite food items – donuts. Elvis recorded a radio jingle for Southern Maid Donuts.

I went once not long after they opened here in Baton Rouge. Some of the worst donuts I ever had. I got plain glazed. They reminded me of Dunkin Donuts. Tasted like they were cooked somewhere else and shipped in. I went about 7:30 in the morning so you would think these would be fresh. I’ve never been back. I pass by it every day and never see anyone in line. I can’t see how they stay in business and I must not be the only person with this opinion of their product.

I've never gotten the Krispy Kreme love.

Beignets are the goat Saturday morning breakfast.

Chocolate glazed with peanuts, preferably from Southern Maid.

It doesn’t get any better than Meche’s fresh glazed baw
I would agree with you 100%, except for the fact that I can't drive all the way to Lafayette from east of Atlanta on a Saturday morning for a donut. Gotta settle for second best with a Krispy Kreme regular glazed over here.
Damn you! Now I want a Meche's donut!
eta: Dunkin' sucks. Cake donuts in general suck. Fresh-glazed, hot yeast donuts are heavenly.
And - to answer a previous question by another regarding Shipley's... The one in Hattiesburg, MS was always great. Haven't been to any of the other locations though.
