And frankly, a 2-loss team, ranked No. 10 at this stage of the season, is a joke.

The FSU loss was a bad break and easily explained. Tennessee loss looks the worst, but our ranking builds their case.

But history says otherwise. We've seen Alabama opponents ridiculously ranked in order for them to build a better resume.

True. However it is a resume builder with a win for LSU too.
It would be, regardless of where LSU is currently ranked. There's a reason they ranked 2-loss LSU at No. 10.

Additionally LSU being good at football is very healthy for the sport. We have a national brand, a famous coach and we attract a lot of eyes to the TV. We are a really good story right now.
Agreed, And I could definitely see LSU going 9-3 with a real shot at the Orange Bowl.

ETA: Ha, just saw the projection for LSU in the Orange Bowl.

It is a giant TV conspiracy. Bama-LSU is a top 10 matchup and they screw CBS out of the 1 v. 2. With Oregon doing so well, there is absolutely no reason to have UGA behind Ohio State…other than to say that these rankings are totally irrelevant.

LSU in its current form would beat everyone behind them. You can’t justify having Ole Miss high and LSU not being in front of them when they curb stomped them head to head. CFP got it right unlike the AP

If Bama wins out , they’re in the playoff regardless of LSU’s rank. This thread is dumb.

Alabama needs a top 10 victory (on the road) to add to their resume.

We've seen this same script play out year after year after year.

This No. 10 ranking is about Alabama.

It also doesn't hurt for TV ratings that this will be a top-10 matchup.

An LSU win likely gets the Tigers to #6 with a more manageable schedule afterwards and 1st place in the west. If LSU is ranked lower, there would be more ground to make up. Just win. Don't make it about Alabama

Maybe. But it also adds to ours. If we win out that means we took out Bama and the winner of UGA/UT. That’s half the initial four right there. Not to mention UM and OSU still have to play each other.

In any event, say we lose but win every game after, then we are set up nicely for a new year’s six bowl like 2018. A close loss to Bama likely drops us no more than 12 or 13 and we could climb back into the top ten by the end of the season.

I think we're underrated in both polls. 10-12 is about right.

Extra juice will be needed to justify their ranking ahead of potential undefeated conference champions Ohio State and/or Clemson so as to avoid a possible SEC vs SEC semifinals (Alabama vs Georgia/Tennessee).

Alabama doesn’t need any help. If they win out and win the SEC, they are in the CFP.

It’s nothing but a publicity stunt by committee. It draws attention to their first publication. It adds intrigue to this game. If LSU wins they were first and right. If lsu loses they just as easily drop a 3 loss team out of the mix.

As with all things. Rankings really don’t matter right now.

There is just no winning with some people here. Top 10 ranking and you make it to be about Alabama! We beat Alabama Saturday we aren't dropping. If LSU wins out we're in the playoff.

How can you be anything but pleased about this as an LSU fan? We still have a shot at a national title in November in Brian Kelly's first year! People will find anything to bitch about I swear!

I swear to god some of y’all want LSU to be 0-12 and irrelevant. Why would you not want the highest possible ranking for LSU? Do you WANT to be ranked 23rd?

Just makes it a more meaningful game to sell to the general public. Now if we pull off a win it will help us greatly.
