A coach with Dale Brown's record today would have been run out of town by now. He did not have a winning record in the SEC until his 6th year. Will Wade has had only one losing record in the SEC and it was his first year.

How far has Wade gotten into the tourney? When Wade gets to a final 4, wake me.

Your histrionics are noted.

I was? I said in December we’d drop a few games in league play. You could see the team had weaknesses. As good a recruiter he is, he’s got to get better at assembling the roster versus assorting talent

9-9 good enough for 5th without the 2nd best/possibly most important player and missing the starting point guard for several games isn’t bad. We probably should’ve/could’ve finished 11-7 but we’d have still finished 5th.

If Wade stays 25 years like Dale, I'm CONFIDENT Wade will have a natty or two, and easily outperform Dale.

I grew up watching LSU basketball in the late 70s and 80s. I love what Dale did for our program, and am still HEARTBROKEN he never won a title. You are being disingenuous by knocking Wade when what he's done in his first 5 years embarrasses what Dale did in his first 5. Don't forget, it took Scott Drew EIGHTEEN YEARS to win a title at Baylor. Do you think Drew was underperforming during his first 17 years, and particularly his first 5?

Good post.

Half of them.

Wade has yet another tip ten talented class next year. He's wasted a lot of talent, he's got to make some deep tourney progress next season.

Dale clearly wasn't Mr. Xs and Os and said as much, but he was nowhere close to the worst coach ever. Such a dumb comment. He actually did better a number of times with less talented teams. And that 11-seed he took to the Final Four is still tied for the lowest seed to ever make it that far.

A blind hog can find an acorn every once in a while...

He won SEC Coach of the year in his 1st year at LSU after taking over a miserable program. He won the SEC 4 times, he went to the NCAA tourney for 10 consecutive years, went to 4 Elite 8s and 2 Final Fours. He had way more success than a blind hog would have finding an acorn.

Remember where we were just after last season with all the players we lost to the NBA and attrition? Our expectation was we were going to be bottom dwellers with UGA and then WW started filling up the roster during the off season and now we finished 5th in the SEC.

Retard. That sweet 16 team was coached by him. He was still in touch with all of those players and coaches idiot. That was sweet 16.
You would be the same dumbass to count fricking interim coaching records like Orgeron your fricking daddy. Now talk about a useless POS. He RUINED LSU FOOTBALL.

Wade has built a record on shitty non conference competition. Dale wasn't afraid of it.

So 1 decent team a season like Arizona or UNLV or Georgetown is playing a bunch of winners? Again you haven’t a fricking clue. You only see ONE game a year because of some YouTube highlight.

Wade has never backed down from a challenge.

Here you go for reference and the great schedule before Quad 1. Had that team would have played in today’s NCAA would not have made the tourney much less went to the final 4.

They went onto a GREAT 10-10 SEC record. You are done. Now shut the hell up about something you know nothing about.

I expected 11-7, which was what it probably should’ve been minus those two turds against vandy and SC

I wouldn’t say he’s “wasted” talent. Last season was a strong team on paper with too many ball dominant players. Like i said, he’s gotta improve roster construction. He’s definitely shown he can work tPortal which is big this day in age. I expect him to churn another couple players in and out in addition to the freshman class

You mean that year he had to sit out because he was fricking retarded enough to say something incriminating over the phone?

He's never going to win at LSU without bench help. He's Les Miles and Ed Orgeron. Great recruiter, derp field boss. Wade is overrated as a tactician.

Yea like i just said in another post he’s shown he can maneuver in the portal. For a minute after last season it looked like our starting 5 would be Gaines, Murray, Wilkinson, LeBlanc, Days or thereabouts.

The talent on this team is not top ten. The only player going to the NBA is Eason. Auburn has two lottery picks. Kentucky has one lottery pick and a couple of draft picks. Tennessee has two potentially three draft picks and Arkansas has two draft picks.

So are you for or against cheating? You’re bitching about Dale cheating but defending Wade for cheating???

How did you get that out of that? It was a response about what a great coach Dale was. The reality is he was a massive cheater and grossly underperformed.

He had 2 of the 4 greatest players in the history of LSU basketball in the same team and never sniffed the final 4. Let that shite sink in.

Wade sycophants like to credit him for games he didn’t coach. The sad part is, even if you credit him for games he didn’t coach his record isn’t anything to get excited about. This same dumbfrick, 1988, thinks Beth Torina needs to go and she’s been to the supers (sweet 16) every year since 2015.

Wonder how many SEC teams made the tournament each season in Dale's tenure.
This is probably the deepest year in the history of the SEC.

AND NEITHER DID THAT DUMBASS BROWN. NEITHER DOES ANY COACH MORON. That has to be the most moronic thing I’ve ever read on here. The difference is basketball has FAR LESS. There’s not a “shadow staff” in basketball.

Again, Tex Winters was HORRIBLE who was on Brown’s staff. “ In 1982, LSU's Dale Brown, who Winter befriended when Brown was a high school coach, hired him as an assistant for one year 1983-84.[6] ”.

Ron “it isn’t my money” Abernathy was a very good coach in his own right.

“It’s beyond believable,” Coach Abernathy said of winning the award. “I’ve won coach of the year at Louisville, Ky., been NCAA Assistant Coach of the Year a few times, I’ve won the Chronicle’s (Best of the Best) coach of the year multiple times. But this tops them all.”

BUT BUT BUT DALE DID IT ALL BY HIMSELF.

Made it to the final 4 with average talent in 1986.

Wade will never do that in any year..

Oh ok. You actually think you’re trolling or got me upset. I was there and lived it. You were probably not in nutville then. Williams wasn’t average and neither was Taylor and Redden.

We are done.

what Brown walked into here with the LSU basketball program and what he was able to turn that into really a very low sports IQ

By the time he left he had turned it into a shell of a program that had to pay barely above average players to come here and got caught doing it.

Basically he turned the program to probation.

So did I. Greatest seasonal run in LSU college sports until the 2009 baseball post season.

Yet you're here celebrating a .500 conference record over those accomplishments.
