dont really care about the model unless it has "ensemble" in the name.
That's where we pick the one we like the most or the most impressive one and post it, right? With no context, of course.

Better take a few minutes to buy bread and milk before the stores are all out.

How's the long range model now? I tried the website but couldn't produce the long range model. It was -7 last year here in E Texas. If it looks like we're going to get a somewhat similar cold snap this year I need to buy some firewood. If the model is holding up I'll get the firewood.

The GFS has punted on any winter weather next weekend but once again has dreamed up another winter doom storm 2 weeks out. Seems like the GFS always has a run every few days that has a winter apocalypse 2 weeks away.
Anyway for shits and giggles
Plus 72 hours below freezing for most of Louisiana. Seems legit. Buy your bread and milk now.

16 inches of snow for south Louisiana and Mississippi sounds plausible.

Noticed that, but whatever is coming through Tim McGraw country Wednesday is going to have us in the mid to low 20's for a few nights. Highs in low 40's.

Duke, can you explain this picture and what it would mean for BHM?
Signed, guy who has no fricking clue what weather radar looks like.

And it's gone on the 00z. Temps in the 40s and 50s.

Its a model run and well into the future, so dont take it as shown but the gist is Birmingham would have a lot of snow.
Pretty extreme run though, definitely an outlier.

Do you mean the Texarkana region?
Either way, this sounds better.

I look forward to the power outages and tree canopy damage.
In SE Louisiana, I can’t take another extended power outage.
I doubt Entergy’s Cracker Jack patchwork after Ida can take an ice storm.
Luckily as one poster put it, there are no trees in many spots.
I wouldn’t it put it past the weather gods to go from one extreme to the other.

Last few runs of GFS have a big Texas winter storm on Saturday. Within 150 hours it has to be taken seriously. All depends on if the Great Lakes ridge holds on and amplifies the SW lobe of the main big trough. It's gonna be a very active 3 or 4 weeks in the ArLaTex region with numerous shots of cold and moisture. -ENSO going away, very slow MJO entering P8, -EPO. Winter weather lovers dream but some -NAO blocking would help slow the flow down. May even get AO to bomb negative if SSW does it's job but that is hard to project.

Well. Looks like we definitely got the cold temps.

I live on a lake. I'll put the French fries and bags of crappie next to the firewood. Fish and French fries for three days is OK.
