LSU almost had both of them. Made a strong push for Dean but he chose Georgia.

I get why this is an argument because the selection committee for the award has set the precedent but it’s the stupidest reason to knock a guy when picking someone for the best of some position

Think of Delpit winning the Thorpe when he won.

Yeah I'm happy for him that he won but he should've been about tenth on the list of players nationwide who deserved the Thorpe. I actually remember following along on tRant that night and the entire board being collectively shocked and laughing about it.

Hopefully Damone will win over Dean during the NFL draft when performance is the only critieria.

Bradie James had 154 tackles in 2002 and didn't make the semis

Dean was one of the few guys playing well last night if we’re honest about it.

Clark's numbers are mind blowing....but 6-6 makes it very difficult to win individual awards these days.

Is it an individual or team award?

You could make the case Clark should have won it pretty easily but you could also make the case that his numbers are so good because his D-line were not doing their job and he had to make up for it.

Now I don't buy that, at least not totally, but it did have something to do with it. And I do think Clark should have won.

What a dumb argument. You even knew it because you bailed at the end.

Damone will get paid. The team with the better record gets the spoils. It’s always been that way. Remember when Payton Manning didn’t win the Heisman? Don’t sweat it.

I’m posting this shite on every Clark Dean thread..

The total of what Dean accomplished in 3 yrs and 34 games versus what Clark compiled in just the 12 game season of 2021….

Dean in 34 career games vs Clark in 12 games of this season:

Dean 82 solo Clark 78
Dean 157 total Clark 135
Dean 11.5 TFL Clark 15.5
Dean 6.5 sacks Clark 5.5

It must be a beauty pageant for who they want to win. His numbers speak volumes.

So many times this is a popularity contest just like the Heisman.
I think it is wrong when commentators use the term "Heisman Candidate' the first game of the season.

2x the stats in less games against the same competition. Butkus is a joke.

Is the Butkus Award selection committee made up of NFL referees? Shameful.

Damn... these were the 2 stat lines? I'm assuming Clark didn't win, but clearly you could see who had the better year
