Ken Starr is a pathetic voyeuristic rightwing pervert whose credibility is best kept by keeping his mouth shut.

Yeah he's a joke. Just trying to stall the inevitable. Does he realize if he managed to make us stay(not possible) how many people would truly hate him and baylor? There is no conceivable way that a private college, with less government capabilities than prior years, would be able to affect a public school in any serious manner. They say they could lessen our funding, REALLY? how does a crappy private school affect a public institutions funds, madness. The only conceivable school capable of it is ut, and every indication shows they couldn't care less about what we do haha.

Thats what I dont understand. How do they have such control over the legislature when they are a private school? Wheres the concern about texas tech or how about the fact that UH isnt in a BCS conferance? Both of those mean should mean much more to the texas legislature than Baylor.

Baylor is most pathetic fricking school in the country. Even their own president sounds like a desperate whore.

this.
baylor didn't give a shite when uh, smu, and tcu got screwed over back in the day.
they are trying to save their own skin. just wish they come out and say that instead of acting like they are looking out for the well being of the entire state of texas.

Because most politicians are attorneys and Baylor has one of the state's law schools.

We rule!
While Starr's lobbying is pathetic, what is he supposed to do? He's looking out for the interests of his school (badly, but still).
Though I do object to this whole notion that TCU should've been included in the Big 12. TCU didn't get asked to join because they were ON PROBATION. Oneof the reasons for the SWC's failure was rampant corruption, and Tech and Baylor were the two schools who weren't on probation and interested in fielding a BCS-level team (Rice wasn't on probation, but decided to de-emphasize football).
also, Baylor was more successful over the past 20 years than any of the teams left out (or the whole history of the conference). just because the Big 8 lacked a crystal ball to see that TCU would suddenly get good for the first time since the 1940s, doesn't mean TCU got screwed. it means TCU had the ability to turn a negative into a positve and becoming a mid-major power. Getting left out of the Big 8, ironically, ended up being a huge positive for TCU football.

Baylor's President, Ken Starr, cites Orangebloods.com to university presidents as to why A&M should not be considered.

I remember you from years ago on here when you lived in Carolina. I see you are still a pathetic voyeruristic leftwing pervert whose credibility is best kept by keep your mouth shut.

We tell Rex that on the Poli Board daily. So far no luck.

Good news: TX governor is an Aggie grad.
Recent news: He is a presidential candidate.
Bad news: He needs the Baptist vote.
Gonna be interesting to see how it plays out.

And he'll still get it. Baptists outside of Texas don't give a rip about Baylor. It's not like catholics and Notre Dame. JMHO

Not to worry. Baylor is only one of 14 law schools in Texas.

A very high % of the state politicians went to either the Texas or Baylor law schools.
I am surprised that Baylor hasn't pulled out bigger sticks than Starr writing ponderous emails. I still don't think the Big 12 stays together - ND isn't coming. Texas would love to be in the Big 10 and the LHN may not be the barrier everyone thinks it is.....Baylor is about to be out of a BCS conference forever and is going down quietly.....

at least 2 of us have been telling you for a long time, they don't have any sticks.
The absolute only thing they could do is cut funding for academics and that was never a realistic possibilty and they know it.

Drunky,
Baylor has not been quiet at all. Talk to some of your Texas connections and they can tell you it has been a lot more than Starr writing emails. It just wasn't enough to stop A&M, once we made up our mind that Deloss Dodds is untrustworthy.

What sticks do they have left? The legislature is on vacation for a year and a half now. Perry would have to call them back. The Board of Higher Ed can only ask questions and stomp their feet, they can't change funding till 2013 (I'm guessing on the funding part but wouldn't a budget vote entail the entire legislature).
No Legislator in their right mind would pull funding from a Tier 1, AAU member over athletic conferences. And to pull PUF funding takes a constitutional amendment and a vote of the citizens.
