re: Why do LSU fans want Jimbo Fisher?

If we can get him, I'd be happy, but there are probably some gems about Jimbo in a Rose Bowl game thread from this year.

Why not? As long as they can pay him what he wants, and they will considering he already has a natty, there's no reason for him to go elsewhere--at least in college.
He does seem miserable at times. I've never seen a coach look the way he did during the Jameis stuff. A major college football coach who looks like he'd rather be anywhere else, like he wants to crawl in a hole somewhere. Maybe that's just his demeanor everywhere, maybe he's just a dour person. Still doesn't mean he won't leave. But that's why so many people speculate on him leaving, plus the fact that FSU is not a true blue blood program and their fanbase is kind of different from your typical Big Program fanbase.

Not really. Aside from Miami, FSU was probably the most successful and popular program from the late '80s to early 2000s. A "true blue blood program" is something that's subjective and meaningless.
Either way, I'd welcome him to LSU if he's truly unhappy in Tallahassee. Although the pressure at a place like LSU or Bama, etc. only will add to his stress.

And of course the SEC gets more exposure.

Jimbo had record breaking offenses at LSU in 01 and 03. Great QB developer.

1. SEC, some coached want to play in the nest conference in the country
2. Easier Recruiting. Not going to have to duke it out with everyone and their brother for Florida players anymore.

There's no way to make a designation like "blue blood program" objective.
Jimbo isn't going to leave FSU for a program like Bama because Bama won national titles when he was a kid. Remember when guys like Rich Rod were turning down the Bama job? USC hired Sarkisian while Petersen chose to go to Washington. Saban would've gotten more "exposure" in Texas than in Bama, but he didn't leave.
Exposure matters how when dealing with comparable, top tier programs? Especially in 2015.

because of the easy schedule.
He's still undefeated in bowl games aside from the playoff last season.. so with prep and against good opponents he wins.
He puts out insanely talented teams. I haven't see anything like that 2013 fsu team on BOTH sides of the ball.. almost every starter on that team is a starter in the NFL. even both rbs are tearing it up right now..
The main thing is he is proven and only 50! That's hard to find.. I would never trust any up and comer coach from a small school.. who can't even go undefeated in their small conference.. Jimbo went 2 straight seasons undefeated.. and yeah the ACC may not be that good, but it's still impressive.
There's no perfect coach, but he's a big time name who recruits big time players.. that is still the most critical part.

Why would LSU want a national championship winning coach with a history of developing talent? Couldn't tell you.

So Les Miles? You already have him.

Florida and Miami issues has had a lot to do with that.

Because of Bama fan threads like these.

In some ways yes, but there are two main differences about Jimbo that I like. His specialty is offense, whereas Miles really didn't bring that to the table. I don't think Jimbo's QB development is really questioned at this point either which is a plus. Two, I think Jimbo has done a better job at replacing his DC's at quick turnover rates due to success, and the defenses continue to be high end. Some of Mile's replacements have been true head scratchers.
I think Jimbo is on par with Miles with recruiting and overall program managment. Jimbo also has a personality that fits well as a HC and will be likable with the fan base.

I had no idea Bama fans loved Miles so much. From reading their posts you'd think he was next in line to replace Saban.
Wonder why that is?

LSU fans live under the delusion that EVERY coach that once worked in BR and then moved on secretly wants to come back to BR.
If I was Aleva, I would want someone who has never worked for Nick Saban. Saban understands his assistants better than the assistants understand themselves...the dude has an eye for minute detail and as such he can predict these guys. Personally, I would want a guy from the West Coast who has never had to deal with Saban on any level therefore is not intimidated by him...because LSU fans are intimidated by Nick Saban and Alabama. That's why I would go for a Chip Kelly or J.L. Mora or the guy at Utah and if I really wanted to hang Saban and the SEC up ...Kleiman at ND State. Nobody from WV by way of Tallahassee ( Fisher). No one from Columbus OH ( Herman...mainly because once Urban quits in a few years he's gone) or a Dabo Swenney...who's not coming.

The 2012 Alabama team was easily as talented. It has more players in the NFL than 2013 FSU.
Anyway, I couldn't care less if you guys can Miles, I'd actually prefer it because the chances are your next coach won't be that good. My only point is Jimbo Fisher is at best a lateral move. If you hired Pete Carroll back to the NCAA, I'd be a lot more depressed. The chances of Jimbo lining up and beating Saban are nil.
