Jimbo had record breaking offenses at LSU in 01 and 03

Maybe in 2001. In 2003, we scored 17 points on UGA and Ole Miss (the same amounts we just scored on Bama, Arky and Ole Miss) and Florida held us scoreless (we lost 19-7 with our score on a Skyler Green return). Remember how abysmal that 2004 Auburn game was? And the SEC was much softer then.

ETA: Also, one major criticism I keep seeing of this year's team was the halftime score of the E. Michigan game, which was 20-14. Does anyone remember that one of our greatest teams of all time, the 2003 national champions (with Jimbo as OC), played a Div. 1-AA school, Western Illinois, and with 5:00 left in the third quarter we scored to go up 20-7. Also, we were only up 10-9 over Tulane in 2007 at halftime. This is a really moronic criticism.

Also, someone said Les loses to the good teams. Well, isn't that who you want him losing to when he loses? He also has a stellar record against ranked teams, and is something like 15-16 against Top 10 teams. That means he's played a lot of them and beaten a lot of them.

You could probably find threads from only a month ago bashing him and his integrity. Suddenly it's all forgotten

I'm pretty sure you probably can't.

Hell LSU fans say the same about Les when a player gets arrested. You're smart enough to realize that there are lots of LSU fans on this site.

OP, Jimbo has sent multiple first round QBs to the league. I want that.

4 straight QBs

Jamarcus
Ponder
Manuel
Winston

Gholson will likely end the streak but you never know the NFL goes full retard at that position

OP this is my response from another thread

quote:

I say this at the risk of seeming as though I don't respect Miles. And I do. I respect the hell out of Miles. He's done great things for LSU, and the bromance began post-Katrina.

That being said, LSU fans have witnessed some real head scratchers over the years. Lots of clock management wtf's, offensive philosophy stagnant, losing games he shouldn't, playing down to opponents, etc..Idk how good of a gameday coach Jimbo is, but I don't recall seeing a lot of these type mistakes.

I also see that Jimbo has coached a lot of QBs who are now in the league. A lot of them 1st rounders (Ponder, Manuel, Jamarcus, Winston) and as an LSU fan, man, that sounds sweet. What a breath of fresh air a QB developing coach would be.

So would we have similar success? Maybe. All that I ask is that the same success come in a not so "pull your hair out at times" way, if that makes any sense.

To refer to him as a Miles clone is hysterical when you look at a) each coach's expertise at an individual position and b)style of play

They are night and day

Thank you for your contribution to the discussion. An Alabama fan suggesting we should keep Miles. How novel. And transparent.

In a way u are right. He would probably give us similar numbers that miles did in his first 5-6 years. We're trending down and the biggest flaw Lsu has dealt with is Qb play. He will fix that issue, understands the sec, and usually fields very good defenses. U gotta admit Jimbo vs Saban every year would be good ones imo
