From a big picture stand point

why would Kelly pick White over Jones...? More SEC experience?

no troll, not agenda other than diving into this important hire?

Because he’s a better coach?

Idk that may be a wild conspiracy theory of mine.

Perhaps because he has more experience as a defensive coordinator?

White has had pretty good defenses with pretty meh talent for a few years now

Jones was good for 4 games 1 of them against ULM

He’s just so far from a sure thing.

A lot more experience and less risk? White is a better candidate. It’s really not close.

He has 3 times as much experience and about 10 times the amount of successful experience

Jones was good for 4 games. That's not enough to be lsu DC...which is one of the most prestigious asst jobs in college football

Kelly is a smart, highly experienced, highly successful head coach who knows a good assistant coach when he sees one. If he decides that White is the right person for the job, then chances are he has good reasons.

The Daronte Jones discussion reminds me a lot of this board during the 2016 search where the argument was “Coach O DESERVES another chance” and basically any negative about the hire is placed at the feet of the previous HC and somehow they’ve become this undervalued savant overnight that we must keep

It’s super weird.

Younger, more successful, career has been on a steady incline and has improved himself at ever stop. Doesn't have any stagnation in his career path. Where he stayed in the same or similar position at multiple stops over a 10 plus year period. I don't understand why this board is so fascinated with Jones. Yes the defense played well for a 3 game stretch. A stretch that never would happened if Lane Kiffin had not told our staff they were very predictable. Why does this not trouble you people?

But go ahead make your case for Jones?

Derek must’ve been promised some access to the team cafeteria if he helped Jones get the job.

I think Jones has earned a spot at a school as DC. But LSU should never be a proving ground.

The guy is halfway into his first chess match. He surprised Bama and we were able to keep it up for a few weeks. Lets see how he responds when teams have time to start planning for what he put out.

Could be become a really good DC? I think so. Could he also get figured out and be burned by game 3 of this season? Definitely.

If BK decides to keep him, I'd be ok, but disappointed we couldn't land someone with more history. But we should be able to land someone more proven, and who has battled back and forth with teams for a few years.

Lot of down votes...

You guys must have taken my questioning wrong?

Jones has NFL experience...and showed a lot improvement...

White has 3 years experience...

I'm just asking...

I love Coach Kelly and fully trust his decision making.

My question is just message board filler...

If white is our guy...then okay...just asking how a HC evaluates a DC hire...

Its not a knock on anyone its just a legit question...

Exactly!!!!

Who would want a DC that allowed 6 rushing yards against Bama that hasn’t been done in years!
It’s crazy I tell ya!!

What if I told you that White has more NFL experience than Daronte Jones and also didn’t need to “show improvement” from some of the worst defense LSU has ever played
