But how many people does Ohio split these recruits with? How many go to Michigan?

Ohio State tends to get the Ohio kids they want the vast majority of the time. With our national recruiting pulling in so many players now other schools are getting more Ohio kids than they did in the Tressel era and it's showing as those schools are doing better.

Ohio State's offensive starters this year are from:

Ohio -2
Michigan - 2
Illinois - 1
Texas - 1
California - 1
Maryland - 1
New York - 1
New Jersey -1
Indiana - 1

Defensively we also have starters from Michigan, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

16 of 22 starters are from out of state.

And LSU is number 6 in recruits, which they have to themselves, so it damn well is relevant to a discussion where my premise is that Recruiting is what makes LSU a top 5 coaching destination. But you and Ohio State people for some reason refuse to put LSU in that tier. Because they aren't a blue blood? Give me a break!

No one is saying that LSU isn't an elite destination. What is being said is that the are other jobs that would be more desirable for a potential head coach if he was given the option of choosing one or the other. Stop taking it as disrespect towards LSU. None is intended.

And I thought Ohio State fans were thin skinned.

Notre Dame, Michigan and OSU aren't recruiting kids away from LSU and Bama.

Dwayne Haskins

And likewise. Alabama and LSU may get an Ohio kid here and there but they get very few compared to the number of offers they put out to Ohio kids. Talking about Alabama here mostly as it seems that Saban and Meyer love to offer kids from each others state to make the other work a little to keep them.

sure they will always have one or two that just want out of their home state. For the vast majority of the time LSU, Michigan, TOSU, BAMA will dominate their area. you might have a kid that just wants out so it happens but those kids are actually pretty rare.

ND can't just run on in and take what it would like from LSU or BAMA. I can't recall the last time ND was able to come into LA and actually take a kid that LSU really wanted, same with ND trying to do that to bama.

In the 90s before dinardo there was a massive outflow of talent, LSU couldn't hold anyone in state at all.

its clear the best programs are located in talent rich areas. they first lock down their state and area and then slowly move out.

the core of the great USC teams built on cali kids and then cherry pick the ones where needed.

as great as usc has been they nabbed Joe Mcknight from us during their high years and i can't recall many others off the top of my head.

I think the talent area is what locks up the elite programs as top destination jobs. it is also what buried the gophers, the huskers and soon to be ND.

Vonn Bell and Raekwon McMillen come to mind.

This cycle we have Shawn Wade (might lose him), Trevon Grimes and JK Dobbins plus 5* recruits from Ohio, California X 2, Maryland and Ohio.

I know Haskins is from Maryland. The poster was talking about going head to head with LSU and Alabama for recruits. We get our fair share. I also understand the lure of the state school which is why those are the toughest battles to win and at the end of the day the recruit almost always chooses the home school.

You also don't have close to the quantity of players to pick from in state. Not even remotely close

Despite all of their advantages UF hasn't cashed in.

Were you asleep in the 90's? They were the dominant program in the conference. Won a national title in '96, '06, and '08. How is that not cashing in?

To answer this question, I would say that you have to answer the question of at which of the schools with Les Miles have 112 games. I don't think that there's any way in hell Les Miles would've 112 games in Alabama or Notre Dame or many of the other schools listed LSU is one of the top three or five jobs in the country and there's no question about it.

The only job that I think it's really better is possibly Florida LSU is simply better than all the rest when you asked the question of how many games Les Miles would've wanted those schools

meant they hadn't cashed in until the 90s. the 90s is when UF woke up. They had all those earlier while Da U was busy whipping arse but UF just was kinda hanging out.

Two things that LSU immediately has better than Ohio State number one recruiting LSU has more players in the NFL then Ohio State. End of story go frick yourself even with Les Miles is head coach LSU has more players in the NFL then Ohio State secondly LSU's in the SEC it's much better if you are a coach who loves football the coach of the SEC than the big 10
