Factoring facilities, recruiting, salary, prestige, history, fan base, conference, etc.. where would you plug LSU into this list and/or rerank my list?

1) Alabama
2) USC
3) Ohio State
4) Texas
5) Notre Dame
6) Florida
7) Michigan
8) FSU
9) Oregon
10) OU/UM/UGA/Clemson

6.B tied with florida
Oregon is not top ten and I dont think FSU is, LSU is ahead of OU, UM, UGA, & Clemson for jobs

I'd say top 3. In a slump now, can easily slide back into perennial championship quality teams with the right guy.

Holy shite that is awful

To be honest, the prestige/history/fan base angle is useless these days, I am not sure why it is brought up. The reason this use to matter, or why it was perveived to matter, was because the "blue blood prestigious schools" were the only ones willing to dump money into their facilities and to their coaches, as well as play on tv every saturday. Now, that crap is all the same. All the big programs are willing to throw millions around and every team gets exposure.

The rankings are all about the recruting grounds now.

I would say

1.LSU/Ohio State/UGA/UT/USC/UF are all about even. Meaning, the same coach would have about equal success at these given programs

Above Florida. UF has a ton of in state recruiting competition. LSU has none.

FSU is also below LSU for the same reason and because that university is quite underwhelming.

LSU is in that group you listed. LSU is a top 1% job in the nation and it has everything a coach would want when considering a new job at a top University. LSU will get a great coach if they do this the right way.

My whole premise was to not have LSU in the ranking and have you tell me where it goes... I wasn't saying LSU doesn't belong on the list.

Oregon is definitely now a top-10 job with the Phil Knight infusion. Facilities are top notch, they can recruit in Cali and even nationally, and they have a ton of cache with this generation of kids.

its top 10.

i think the list is something like
1. Texas or Alabama
3. USC
4. Tosu
5. Michigan Florida LSU

all of these places have fertile recruiting grounds, all are willing to pay anything it takes
good news for LSU is Alabama, Tosu, Florida and michigan aren't looking for a coach this year. Also highly unlikely that USC and LSU cross paths on what coach they want.

So unless Texas was to come open this year LSU is the premier job on the market. Even if you ranked us lower only oregon is realistically looking at a change. I think we are over ND as of now.

Notre Dame has no business being on that list.

honestly its not that far off, the top 5 or 6 jobs are pretty close to interchangeable. they all have things in common, such has top recruiting area and willingness to pay big money for a coach and his staff.

The only thing that really matters anyways is who in the top tier will be hiring. As of now LSU is the only elite job that looks like it will be on the market this year.

in most years only one or two of the top jobs will be open. USC is an interesting case because its a top job but it has a different profile for a coach than LSU or Bama would be looking for.

Exactly.

The top five is, in no specific order, Texas, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, and Bama. LSU is in that next tier.

You could argue that LSU has been a better job than Texas and Notre Dame in the last decade.

It is.

Texas/Bama/Ohio St/USC are unquestionably better than LSU as a destination site and have all of history to tell us that.

I will agree their history is better than ours. however, LSU is still an elite head coaching destination. We pay just as much as anyone, we have the best recruiting area just like other elites. We are also a top 10 legitimate all time program.

they all do have the history over us but pay, players, and resources are all the same. so you have to go down the list of tiebreakers to start ranking the top 7 or 8 jobs in the country.

Anyways the only thing that even matters is who else is hiring while we are hiring. Texas is the only legitimate threat to be looking for a coach that we might want, but that all depends on their willingness to fire charlie in year 3.
