Couple of questions
Is he young?
Is he charasmatic?
Can he get Walker excited about the program and bring some energy?
Can he petition out of 5A? (LOL....had to ask ).

i played for sevario at walker and i couldnt believe when i heard he had completely lost interest in the team and coaching there. when i was there all he wanted was to be head honcho from what i recall. was a hardcore disciplinarian type and kids these days dont want that. they seem to all want to be coddled.

I played baseball with this kid many, many years ago. Looking back, I couldn't imagine him being a coach these days.

i'd love to be a coach where they're happy with 2 wins a year...

I'm not sure where you got this idea.....
Walker needs to be 4A but unfortunately, they are just over threshold with numbers.

the idea is that Walker, like some others, is a terrible program. losing is accepted. if you win two games, they're happy. make the state playoffs, you should have a job forever

Walker's problems goes deeper than just the head coach especially in the administration etc. There is talent at Walker but the kids just don't want to play for the coaches they have had there since Coach G was fired. Another issue with walker is that they always hire some one from Denham Springs or from somewhere else other than someone who is from Walker. There has been some very good candidates who graduated from Walker wanting the job the last few times it was open but for some reason they always get passed over.

Who are these good candidates?
Walker has got to get over their denham complex. Who cares where they are from if they can coach. Walker will never be good firing coaches every three years. You do know Lawley helped at denham for a semester. That should get him fired pretty quick.

I can promise you, they ain't happy about losing.
The program has had some success with Lionel Turner, Hawkins, etc. but kids lose interest after 9th Grade.
Maybe a young guy can come in and change that......we'll see.

Well, it says a lot when an ex-Principals son preferred to play at Denham and not follow Dad to Walker.
Walker needs to follow the lead of Live Oak and do there own thing.

To name one is Ricky Reine who applied for the job every time it was open, works at Walker High and has been successful at every level of football he has coached. In addition, he was also the head offensive coach of the alumni game which embarrassed Denham Springs this past summer. But like I have said, the problem at Walker is in the top administration and until there is a change in that department Walker will continue to struggle. Walker needs someone that the community knows and stands behind and someone the kids love. The man I stated above is that and there are several other people from Walker who would fit this description.

Not "WHS" quote, but I'll answer it.
They had a guy winning 3 or 4 games a year a couple of years ago. But he was a "Denham guy" so they fired him.

The coach that just went 0-20 was as much as a "Walker guy" as you can get. How'd that work out for ya?

And how much of that is on the high school level? You are for promoting a youth football coach to be a 5A head high school coach?

Wow, that's what you think is a qualification? That's worse than using youth football as a qualification.

Once again, you just fired that guy.

I can see how one can think that Coach Reine didn't have the qualifications but he did coach football at Walker high for close to a decade and was the interim head coach at one time. And even though it has nothing to do with football, he was the head softball coach at Walker for a while and brought them deep into the state tournament two or three times. Also, his welding program at Walker High has won several state championships. I guess what I am trying to say is why not give the man a shot because the rest of the hires have fallen extremely short and he has been successful at everything he has done. To answer your question about the last coach, I thought he would was going to do well as Walker as head coach, in fact I played under him and have a tremendous amount of respect for him but he is still not from the Walker community.
