Tim Brando has been very talkative today regarding the Kiffin situation...

He's gotten into some interesting conversations with people regarding Kiffin. The last time he was this vocal about LSU was when he was adamant that Jimbo and Herman were not going to happen.

Some other Tweets of note:
quote:

Scott Andrews @TimBrando what about Miles to UH

Tim Brando @thesnake1997 it's legit.
quote:

?@TimBrando Everyone needs to understand this news on Kiffin is no bid deal for Saban. He has Sark ready in the bullpen. Still, Lane's done a great job.
quote:

?@DanWolken 29m29 minutes ago Dan Wolken Retweeted Tim Brando Sexton usually doesn't do big buyouts like that

?TimBrando.@DanWolken Correct. It's my opinion a bigger job awaits Kiffin.Just not this year. LSU O/C makes a lotta sense and then play a bigger hand.

Justin Nails ?@justinnails 26m26 minutes ago Hoover, AL Justin Nails Retweeted Tim Brando Sounds like Sexton/Kiffin may talk themselves right into a lateral move. Unbelievable.

Tim Brando ?@TimBrando 24m24 minutes ago
.@justinnails Not really. The LSU O/C gig is both a better launching pad as Lane gets far more credit there. Long Saban shadow is tough.

Justin Nails ?@justinnails 21m21 minutes ago
@TimBrando If he can't get a HC job after what he has done at Alabama, how much more of a launching pad does he need?

TimBrando.@justinnails Nick won't let Asst.'s talk during the season. Openly admonishes them in public. Orgeron's relationship w/him makes it better.

Justin Nails @TimBrando He has a chance at being a HC over being under the thumb of his friend. Take the Houston job, worry about the buyout later.

Tim Brando .@justinnails sorry, it doesn't work that way. Buyout of major $ cause problems on the fast track. No Dog in the hunt.Just the business bud.
quote:

Bill Rowland @TimBrando @justinnails gets more credit for failure at LSU also. Why think he will be successful there when no one else has been?

?TimBrando .@Tigerbill @justinnails He is a helluva good Coordinator with talent. LSU's got plenty of it. He will be incredibly successful there. IMO.
Interesting stuff. Let's see what happens.

Not a Brando fan at all, but he nailed the Herman / Fisher deal stating how terrible our leadership is, AD / Pres. He's probably right for this too.

the more I think about it, if kif wants to rehabilitate his reputation he goes to lsu for about the same salary as aranda.

Houston may be pressing a really big buyout on him. I thought he was gone until I read this post. still up in the air.

Brando may have LSU sauces (Ponamsky) but seriously doubt he has UH, Kiffin, or Sexton sauces

Brandos just pissing in the wind. Because the final call wont be Sextons. It will be Kiffins. And you can bet that at 1.8M+ for OC, LSU will also have a nasty buyout clause, too

If they want him badly enough they'll accept that they aren't a destination job, for Kiffin anyway, and agree to not have some ridiculous buyout .

If they really want a guy that'll be there and stay there , Kiffin is the wrong choice.

He's actually right, Saban has had a decent offense no matter who was coaching them. Kiffen would get more credit at LSU if he stayed a couple years and won a title and turned us into an offensive powerhouse he would land a big time job in a few years and not a Houston type.

Sorry but for oursake we're better off looking elsewhere for an OC because we'd be doing this again next year. There are some good names out there this year, let's go with one we can at least get two seasons out of.

Lane is a one season mercenary

Brando is a hack. Kiffin isnt coming here. Everyone else says hes headed to Houston. Brando is just setting up for his round of tweets next week shitting on LSU.

"I'm told LSU had Kiffin but balked at dollars. Leadership failed coaching hire again."

"Kiffin wasn't happy with Houston terms. After Alleva refused to pay Kiffin same as Aranda, reopened talks with UH. Coogs closed the deal."

SAban thinks so far ahead that he makes ready another great hire with tarnish by bringing him low under cover to replace the guy he knows will depart for H.C job. We on the other hand have one shot deal and no contingency plan. What we need to do is get a great OC, then hire Briles on the low key, move him in when other guy leaves.

Not a "big" job necessarily, but I have a feeling Arizona could be open soon if Rodriguez doesn't rebound.

Didn't Kiffin, last year, sign a one year extension? So there would be no buyout.

If we could get 2 seasons out of Lane I'd be happy but that seems unlikely

You'd be lucky to have Lane Kiffin. This is a win/win. We either get Kiffin or Art Briles will be looked at even more seriously than he is now
