This is info released from the AD office to gain support from the "we want one of us" crowd.

The shite show in Austin is nothing compared to the dumpster fire in Baton Rouge. In 3 years, Herman will be going strong at Texas, and our new AD (hopefully this hire costs Alleva his job) will be getting ready to fire Orgeron.

BS...Texas has been the posted child for a dumpster fire for the past several years with the shite show of Macks final couple of years, to the disaster of luring Saban to settling on Strong, to leaks Strong is gone to he's our guy, to we will evaluate after the season, to if he wins against TCU he gets another year, to back again we will evaluate after the season...

I'm still not sold on Herman, he may do well and he may not, but Texas has no ground to stand on when it comes to calling out others for being a shite show when no one has come close to the clusterfrick that has been going on their for the past several years...

The "sexy" pick didn't work out. He was going to leverage and screw LSU. Orgeron isn't sexy. He's solid. Let's see how he does with a real OC.

I don't see how anyone is to blame here. It was obvious Herman wanted the LSU job. He just wanted the Texas job a little more. Once he knew they wanted him for sure he basically picked them over us. No matter what we offered him Texas would have matched unless it was an insane amount.

Jesus. Some of you are more dramatic than most women.

Get a fricking grip.

He is unproven, wanted too much money, and was destined to leave for Texas or the NFL eventually, anyway. frick'em.

Ah, so instead we decide on the guy that is a proven loser and would never sniff the NFL as anything more than a D-line coach because he gave LSU a discount. Makes much more sense.

To me Texas is looking at a Tennessee type of future after they let go of Fullmer. You are only a couple of years into it though. This won't be your last coach before you are significant again. Herman is not a good fit for you guys, he is not proven enough to get you out of the hole you are in. Saban was your savior, sorry you didn't get him...

Also it was obvious to him that Fisher was our first choice and he was second so why is so bad that LSU was his second after Texas

I don't blame Alleva for not landing Herman. I blame him for his reported actions and his unwillingness to enter into a bidding war

Will he just say "frick it, I have someone who wants to be here" if Texas tries to hire away Dave Aranda next week and let him walk? Based on this report, that's exactly what he'd do

I know this. Armstrong called Alleva at 5AM Saturday after the Friday night meeting was moved. Call was to up the cost of the verbal deal from 5 to 6 and it's done. Now would they have jumped on a plane and come down, or would they have gone back to Texas? That's the big question that nobody knows for sure. That's when Joe called O and said let's meet. O himself said he got the call around 5:30 Saturday morning. So if you really wanted Herman why not call his bluff and say yes to the 6? That's the problem I have. In the end it would have only hurt Texas in their pockets and you still had O in the waiting in the wings

It's scary that irrational and emotional decision making like that can be allowed to take place in an organization that generates hundreds of millions of dollars.

Fans are the ones being emotional and irrational; this kind of decision making is exactly what a successful organization needs.

There has to be zero tolerance for a lack of honesty and ethics. Anyone who has ever run a business or a department will tell you that making compromises in those areas will hurt you in more ways than you can imagine.

Exactly, we acted like other schools were beating down the door for Orgeron

Uhh, they clearly were not

Tennessee's biggest issue was the growth of college football and schools closing their borders. They relied on recruiting nationally because the state doesn't produce much.

Not a problem in Texas, if Herman is who we think he is, they'll be back soon.

f that's true, why don't you just wait till Saturday evening and see what they counter offer?

It's not like we had a timetable with Orgeron. You lose nothing.

Ego is why. Alleva didn't want to feel bullied so he pulled the offer.

That's shitty negotiating IMO. Put your pride away, you do what's best for the University.

What is so obvious is that you like countless others on this site have NEVER negotiated anything in their lives.
But, you decide to way in on the subject anyway.
