IMO, Jimbo is a bit inconsistent. Look at 2013. Yes they won the title, but Jamis was an elite QB, and their MO was terrible first halves, and second half comebacks. Game planning was an issue. He continues this now, but doesn't have Jamis to bail him out.

If Alleva hires O, he'll seal his own fate.

Touché. I have been saying the same about Fisher since he became the HC at Florida State. I was in high school during the heart of the FSU run and they were a different team compared to Jimbo's. Maybe the ACC level
Of play has regressed FSU or perhaps Jimbo's heart was never in the FSU job. I lived in The U club when Fisher was coaching at LSU. To say he loved Baton Rouge and LSU is an understatement.

Just a note about Jimbo and his assistants.

He is loyal to ONE assistant - Rick Trickett. When he was hired by FSU to be the HC in waiting, part of the deal was to bring Trickett with him. Once he became the HC he hired no one from his WV staff, where he was OC. He has had quite a bit of turnover (about the norm for big time programs) for folks moving to better jobs (Mark Stoops) or for other reasons.

I would be shocked if he brought Kelly with him. I would not be at all shocked if the only coach he brought with him was Trickett.

Not saying he won't bring others (Lawrence Dawsey, WR, would be my first guess) with him. Just saying that if he wants to keep Aranda, he will do all within his power to do so.

Craig would be retained (Jimbo was his QB coach at auburn and Craig worked under Jimbo at fsu)

Raymond and Aranda as well. Raymond for his recruiting ability especially in Florida.

LSU is about to crush it in Florida with Jimbo and Raymond. It's needed, too, because that's where they're going to need to pull their top offensive linemen recruits.

I also expect Jimbo and Craig would bring in a juco transfer.

I would hope he would bring Brewster too. Guy can recruit and has some good Texas connections.

If it really is down to those two I think this is the scenario:

Alleva and co have already done their search and likely Herman is going to Texas. The remaining candidates are too high risk and they don't want to bring in a guy that will shake up the staff and weigh the program down if he doesn't succeed. That includes Fedora, Fleck and a lot of the other high risk guys. If Jimbo ultimately turns LSU down then they intend to keep O on a incentive heavy contract that allows them to part ways if he falters and/or a "home run hire" emerges a couple years down the road.

I just think the choices were Jimbo and Herman and Herman is now off the table (going to Texas). So either Jimbo or O as a stop gap until they get the guy they want.

Pure speculation, but JMHO.

Absolutely pathetic if it's already down to Jimbo or O. We're a top 5-10 job in the country and we are already down to either a home run hire or a DL coach that no one else wants?

I think its locked up with Jimbo, O's name is there just to keep him coaching these last two games..

LSU is a big 6, old money SEC job. Make Chip, Urban, and Herman say no. Then Jimbo or O would be a great plan B

This is what most normal, intelligent people think. Unfortunately, people are perfectly fine settling for things here. They settled for Les for 11 years.

That's the big difference between a program like LSU and Alabama. Alabama went out and got the best coach in football when their coach was fired. LSU is perfectly content with not even trying to make that happen.
