He's not going anywhere. He has a bazillion dollar mansion lake house in Georgia thats not terribly far from Tuscaloosa. If any team come calling Bama will match them with the swiftness.

depending on what happens on the field next few years and how Kirby has done elsewhere as a HC

Seems like they would have pushed for Kirby to "help" UAB - kind of like having a farm club.

UAB fans already claim UA runs their athletic department enough as it is.

the simple and correct answer to this oft repeated question is nick saban stays at alabama as long as he wants to. after the NC at LSU saban was unsatisfied; he was younger and wanted more (his shot at the NFL). now, he has won a NC at bama and doesn't want to look around. i say he retires at bama or virtually does so; that is, he may leave late in life and coach a small school like his alma matar just for 'fun'.

I think he stays for about 3 more years and then takes an analyst job for one of the networks.

He seems to be the least comfortable in all that he does when he is in front of a camera. Can't see him wanting to do that at all.

I don't think Saban is the type to retire early. Doesn't seem to be in his DNA.

I would think he'll stay at Bama, but I could see him going to Notre Dame. He had interest in being there while he was at MSU and LSU. It would be very tempting for him to bring another power program back from the depths (assuming Kelly can't get it done).

Saban to Texas, then after 5 yrs., to the NFL one more time.

Saban to Texas is very possible, either this year or next.

1) It's one of the few schools that can throw more money at him than Bama.
2) He gets his pick of players in the state of Texas.
3) Saban has always been about building programs more than maintaining them.

Do not see him in the NFL or doing TV. Bad fits.

Since there's not a better job in college football, and Nick's been upwardly mobile throughout his career, I'd say it's unlikely he'll leave Bama to go coach college football elsewhere...unless of course some high profile job comes up where he can rebuild a power that's fallen from grace

there's one very obvious program that fits this category and has more money than even bama could throw at saban. One more mediocre year at Texas and i think Mack Brown might be "nudged" into retirement. And I'm sure Saban would much rather coach in austin in a much more relaxed atmosphere as he gets older and the psychotic gump expectations get annoying

If Saban was 51, I might be worried. But he ain't starting over somewhere, a year from now, at age 61.

Doesn't the UA-BOT control the purse strings at UAB?

I think he retires coaching at Bama and takes the AD position.

Mal is a getting long in the tooth and will step down in a few years, IMO. And, who will be better for UA fund-raising than Nick Saban? The man knows how to run a fricking program like no other.

Uh, him taking the Texass job would hardly be starting over...he'd have a 1-3 game season every year & all the talent he'd ever want begging for a scholly.

He may want to the the only HC to win a NC @ 3 different schools.

Keep speculating. One day y'all will be right, and he'll step down at Alabama.

I can see this happening - question is which school AD? Is he fond of hometown in WV or that area for post-coaching life?

Not speculating on anything other than to point out that Texass has the $$$ & resources to make $aban an offer he can't refuse, should they so choose.
