What are objective thoughts on this? Does he stay until retirement? If so how long is this or does he make one more move? Sorry Gumps...He is as much a "Bama" Man as he was a Spartan or Tiger..

I think he goes to another school....He cant keep in one place too long, I think for him its all about the challenge and money, and I think "IF" he beats LSU he leaves.....He is a money whore, and whether Bama fans want to believe it or not he will leave them just like he did all the other places he has been to...

I think he goes 3-5 more years at Bama and retires to ESPN, where he can stare into everyone's soul through the cameras from a studio, instead of a sideline report.

I think he stays for about 3 more years and then takes an analyst job for one of the networks.

Nick needs to learn how to not be so animated with his hands while talking...He needs to watch & learn from Urban analyzing.

3-5 years like everyone else said. contract has 5 years left and he's said he plans to work through 2017. I think he may go a bit early though and be done in 2016 depending on what happens on the field next few years and how Kirby has done elsewhere as a HC (I think if Kirby is ready in to be HC in 2017 then Saban may leave one yr early and KS may take over as HC at Bama...flame away on that one, but it isn't as far fetched as you might think).

oh yeah...In before LSU fans claim there is no way he stays that long b/c he didn't stay that long with them.

I was going to ask how long the contract is. I think he retires at Alabama, but I certainly would not be shocked if he took another job.

IDK, but I wouldn't think Smart would stick around as a HCIW that long. He's already getting buzz.

Smart wldnt stick around that long. He is expected to leave this yr or next. If he has success elsewhere, I think Saban would endorse Kirby as his replacement.

Kirby has told a few people that he thinks the Bama job is his once Saban leaves. Maybe he really thinks that. Maybe he has reason to think that. Or maybe he uses it as a negotiation point with other teams, but I know he's said it more than once.

He recommended we hire Houston Nutt to replace him here

I also know he told them he didn't think Jimbo Fisher was ready.

I would think it would depend on where Smart goes. If he goes to a non AQ or 2nd tier BCS school like OM he would certainly leave for Bama, but if he's at a bigger school doing well, who knows? It makes a lot of sense, most of the guys Alabama hired after Bryant had Bama ties, that he'd be high on the list of replacements.

The longer the Penn State job stays open, the more it looks like $aban is their guy.

I don't think Saban leaves Bama until his daughter has graduated from there

This guy shows his lack of understanding. So Saban is going to go to Texas (a job that isn't and won't be open) for 5 years, and then at the ripe young age of 66 he's going to go to the NFL? Not happening.

The NFL is trending younger. At 66 he would be one of the 2-3 oldest coaches in the NFL.

He stays there for five more years and retires. He spends one year at ESPN and then takes over the New England Patriots after the hoodie retires.

Since there's not a better job in college football, and Nick's been upwardly mobile throughout his career, I'd say it's unlikely he'll leave Bama to go coach college football elsewhere...unless of course some high profile job comes up where he can rebuild a power that's fallen from grace and doesn't look likely to return to it's former prominence.

I've said there's only one job I'd be seriously concerned about Saban taking, and that's Notre Dame. Because the opportunity to rebuild them back to glory might be too much temptation.
