New rumor regarding Saban.... Honest. Roommate went to Texas. Has a close friend who family is connected to BoRegents. Says that the Saban deal will happen and that they are also taking Alabama's chancellor, Robert Witt. Powers(UT president) is out with Brown. A lot of political infighting between him and Rick Perry. Long story. Robert Witt was previously the Dean of Ut business school and president over UT system. So there is prior history there.

Hmm my sources are better than I thought...............

Rick Perry is not getting involved in any of this, in my 15 years here, he's never ever once ever been mentioned as a player in UT's BoR

Incorrect, astonishingly so.

As the governor he appoints regents to the UT BOR.

That must grind y'alls gears that an aggie gets to make those calls. I'd hate a boog to put people in charge of us.

Since he's a fricking aggie, he should be helping get Saban out of the SEC West with the quickness.

This. Always astonishes me how definitive people will act even when talking out of their arse.

what has he done to piss y'all off?

Hes still supporting Brown, as was the AD who suddenly resigned

Currently the BoR is 5 to 4, so it should be a tense meeting

It's a win/ win for Perry if true

Aggies are free of Saban and Texas gets their man.

that would make sense...

wondering about long term collateral damage, UT thinks themselves on the same level as any of the higher level BIg 10/Pac 12 schools...

wonder with some of the more intellectual snobs of the faculty will think...

Interestingly, one of Perry's guys who is really behind the push to make UT almost a Univ of Phoenix look-alike is a UT grad, Jeff Sandefer. So perhaps alma mater isn't a good indication...

The next governor is likely a UT grad...but that's for the poli board.

They'll get in line and like it or frick them.

There will always be tension between academics and athletics at big schools - maybe some more than others. The academic side at Texas at least needs to remember the tens of millions of dollars (mostly LHN money) that's pouring into the academic side in the coming years.

It's actually a short story.

Been that way for ages.
