I agree wholeheartedly. But, Orgeron has to know his success at LSU, and therefore his job, depends on this hire. Given these stakes, I have a hard time believing he's not going to want the guy he feels will produce the best.
It's unfathomable to me that Ensminger is really that guy, but if Orgeron feels he is, then whatever. I've been wrong before. I'm definitely not going to have any patience with him though.

Could the Ensminger-as-co-offensive coorinator-talk be, as some have mentioned, just more money for SE, some street-cred. with recruits, and a better position for when he retires and he gets a bit better pension or whatever as a result?

It's just like the HC search. If Ensminger's even being considered then that probably means he's a HUGE favorite to get the job because he wouldn't get a sniff it this were based on merit.
Sorry to anyone that likes and respects the man but that's the truth. No one is lining up to hire Ensminger, same as O.

Probably between the BOS/Alleva and O.
When the coach doesn't have any skins on the wall, the higher ups probably feel they don't have to take him seriously. Higher ups probably want someone that's actually accomplished something. O wants someone he can trust because he's paranoid.
We all know no one is telling a good coach who to hire. If this were Saban or Meyer this would've been done in 48 hours. They say this is who I'm hiring and that's that. O doesn't have that level of respect to demand that. That's the entire problem with hiring a figurehead coach.
