Me and TBL both agree that the fans outcry against Ensminger is the reason Gilbert was called in the first place.

So, it's a smokescreen to pretend that due diligence was done.

I have been saying this. I reported this last night. I am not saying Gilbert is a done deal by any means or even happens. He is getting a serious look.

I would not change my bet from last night that it is E AND SULLY.

I just wanted to report someone confirmed GTN's claim about Gilbert. This would conform to the information I received about other interviews would occur. This morning was the first time I specifically was told Gilbert.

Ens has not been an OC for awhile, so doubt he has an offense or playbook to implement. He does know the players, and can provide valuable input to a young Gilbert.
Gilbert has an offense and playbook. Makes a good fit to let them exist together till Ens retires.

Didn't Texas have like the 16th-ranked offense under Gilbert? With a freshman QB too

In one year he improved the Total Offense ranking from 92nd to 16th, with a freshman at QB, and some at Texas were not happy.

Technically he doesn’t have a playbook, but I get your point

Compromise for who? Ensminger doesn't want the job and he isn't going anywhere regardless.

They should just announce Ensminger during the 3rd quarter of the Saints game when everyone's good and sauced up.

Sullivan as co-OC makes less sense than Ensminger as OC.

Don’t believe that one either.

Ok, Thank you for reading and giving your feedback.

he never said that.
the E and Sully scenario is:
E to OC
Joseph to TE
Sully to WR

Or it could mean they have a plan they like but are doing their due diligence by interviewing other candidates as well. It doesn't have to be a cynical reason, you know? I realize it's always a big conspiracy theory with Tiger fans, but not everything is a conspiracy.

It is possible we end up with Ensminger AND they conducted an actual good faith coaching search.

Honestly, at this point, I just want Orgeron to pick his favorite guy. I really don't like the thought of the admin strong arming him and trying to force a situation that isn't a good fit. The fallout from that could be worse than simply having Ensminger as OC. Let Orgeron pick his guy and if it works, fantastic, and if not show them the door sooner rather than later.

Say the admin forces someone on Orgeron, aren't they going to feel compelled to give the coaches more time to get everything ironed out? frick that. Give Orgeron all the rope he needs and if he ends up hanging himself, so be it.

However, Still except Ensminger to be elevated to Co-OC or more prominent position on the staff. This will likely be the compromise.

Coach O was offended to some degree that his priorities were ignored by Canada. This all eventually bubbled up and manifested itself in a parting of the ways. Coach E has a vulcan mind link with Orgeron and will be able to ensure that those priorities are communicated to the new OC without Coach O hovering over the Offense. That would have been a better system to have in place with Canada in hindsight in light of his personality. That could have prevented, or drastically minimized, the obvious one-on-one confrontation(s) that spawned a caustic relationship by season's end.

And no matter his results at LSU, plenty of rantards will be melting. Some are already complaining and the man hasn't even been hired yet.

This would be where our opinions differ.. I think Gilbert might just land this.

The smokescreen theory was very plausible to me.. But Orgeron went to Alleva asking about Briles BEFORE Ensminger.

Gilbert is being legitimately looked at. This much is certain.
