These Michigan coaching search threads really illustrate how easy it is to get into LSU and how difficult it is to get into Michigan.

You have lost your wits , settle for a losing record to take a chance on who knows what . Go back and take a look at all LSU coaches , and check total number of wins as well as winning percentages . Get back to me when Les leaves and coach Hudspeth has 3 wins at LSU ...

Cmon guys. The search firm does not hire coaches. It vets backgrounds and conducts due diligence on candidates that are picked solely by UM. In other words, they work for UM.

UM picks the candidates and the search firm gathers data on them and does backgrounds.

Every university hires a search firm. Not sure why this means they are struggling. I've been on search committees for exec type positions (not coaches) and we hired a firm in every instance, mainly to conduct research on candidates that we wanted or were interested in.

So let me guess you are maybe 21 years of age and started pulling for the tigers around the year 2000 . If Alabama can compete for that championship every year , pull for them . I for one am Happy to have Les as a coach . I have been through some dark years .Were you in the stadium in 1988 when Univ . of Miami beat us 44-3 ?

Your guesses are about as good as your assessment of Les Miles. I was there in the 70's and have seen LSU football for the past 40 years. Emmert, along with Saban, set this thing up for success every year. And yes, I happened to be there in the rainstorm in 1988, the day before our family traveled to Disney World. I'm glad you're content with mediocrity b/c that's what you've got with the buffoon at the helm. "Pull for them (BAMA)", spoken like a runner up. Keep pumping sunshine, it makes fifth place in the SECW much sweeter !

Sounds like to me you got a little spoiled and can't handle a couple of 8 win seasons , there was a time when I was overjoyed when we were invited to any bowl . I speak like a runner up , yet you state Emmert and Saban set us up for success . So , are you saying Miles has not been successful ? If this is your belief , you don't know jack about football ... Check his LSU record and win percentage ..

When you play 12 games a year, which include 4 rent a wins (no possible way to lose those games), a lawn chair could win 4 conference games to give you 8 wins. But you go ahead and settle for LAST place in the SECW and console yourself w/ the winning percentage B.S. If you can't see the windows closed on LSU competing for NCAA championships, well just keep your blinders on. Two more years with Jennings, well it may by 7-5 or 6-6, but you'll be happy with the Independence Bowl and the "winningest coach in LSU history".

It does seem logical that you would wait till you had more options with NFL coach's that may be available if you truly want to make best hire.

This. If Michigan thinks it has a legitimate shot with someone who's currently coaching in the NFL, then they're timeline is going to look different than that of Wisconsin, Nebraska, Florida etc.

Maybe but not for Harbaugh. Everyone knows he's done with San Francisco so unless you're talking about other NFL coaches which haven't been rumored yet.

Should probably seek a name change. To Chicken08. As in Chicken Little.

I don't think you people realize how much of a cheapskate culture Michigan is.

First of all, they are like LSU fans in the late 90's. They think their program is one of the top 10 in the country when in reality, they haven't won big in a long time and have fallen further behind.

Michigan fans expect to avoid paying seat/license fees for season tickets, and participating in other revenue generating methods. They have a liberal mentality that permeates their culture. In other words, they really don't want to pay to play. There is one Michigan blog that delved into this and it was quite enlightening. Total opposite of our culture.
