It just seems that no matter what O does, he can't win with a large section of our fanbase.

We had a coach win the national title and our fans shite on it at every turn. This is LSU, the coach wont change that.

He was already here. Anyone hired on would have kept Aranda

Yeah. Feel better with our coordinators though for this year

FIFY.

Its terrifying that he is in charge of our program and that both coordinators will be HC in the near future and need to be replaced.

I am still not a fan of the hire, because LSU will go through this transition almost every year or every other year.

LSU still hired a head coach that has a history of massive failure as a true head coach and not an interim which are two entirely different beasts.

This hire more likely to fail than succeed, so I am not that optimistic but will hope it works out.

Canada as an OC hire has potential both ways. He had a great year this past season at Pitt, but has been inconsistent as an OC historically. I hope he's simply "figured it out" at this point and will continue on this year's success.

Furthermore, let's not ignore some of the poor recruiting tactics that have already backfired on LSU and likely will minimize O's ability to hold this class together as a whole, which was a key reason he was hired.

We could have Saban back and some LSU fans would hate the hire ... it's what we do.

Feel good now but still concerned with coordinator attrition. Hard to hire top tier guys every 2-3 years.

But I am pumped for these hires and 2017.

LSU could go undefeated, win the NC, and some fans would still want the coach fired.

A lot of the "fans" dissing O, and everything else, aren't really fans of LSU.

I'm optimistic with O and what he wants to accomplish.

Yes.

It was a terrible hire.

Well hopefully O does that so we can see if you're right or not.

Yes, the O hire will prove to be an repeat of his tenure at Ole Miss

People that believe this shite are complete morons. unfortunately, I don't think that he will have a favorable schedule and loses a lot of players next year, so he will not be given any slack by this fan base.

Like it or not, he is the Head Coach at LSU. Give the man your support. Too many LSU fans seem to base their self worth on peoples' opinions of the football team. "Oh no! This is embarrassing. Now I am going to get trolled on the message boards. My life is over!"

I disliked the O hire cause I think a 160-48 LSU since 2000 with 3 NCG appearances should have been able to attract a better resume than a DL coach with a questionable record as a HC.

I still think that no matter the staff. We can talk staffs all day and no doubt they are important, but it's the HC who calls the shots and gets or loses the recruits. Staffs can change like the seasons....

He seems like a good hire....I am hoping for the best. His hire does nothing to change my opinion of that has gone on at LSU in the last 13 mons. or the clusterfrick HC hiring search.

No offense intended to Coach O. He hasn't done anything wrong at LSU.

Why, because we make correct observations about Coach O?

So does being an LSU fan now require that we abandon our critical thinking skills and just place blind faith in a coach that has not earned that trust?

Herman tried to hire Aranda. They are college roomates. Aranda would've stayed if Herman was here

Can you provide a link or proof to this? People keep posting this yet no one has been able to link this happening.

Its not as much the hire as to how it was done. If you interview and vet multiple candidates...

But that wasn't done.

Totally agree. We used the Walmart "Equate/Great Value" approach to hiring a new coach.

There were appearances of a legitimate coaching search going on, but if you looked more closely you could tell it wasn't the real thing.

Fair opinion, Lonnie. In reality, we weren't, mostly due to timing. There are only a handful of sure thing coaches. The one we went after wanted a $50MM deal, assuming Fisher is a sure thing- which I'm not sure that he is.

I would reserve judgment on O hire and staff until seeing the results by this time next year. Anything less than 8-4 is a failure.

Love coach O, hate the hire. Any of the coaches on "OUR" wish list could/would have gotten the same results.
