Herman tried to hire Aranda. They are college roomates. Aranda would've stayed if Herman was here

As of this moment, yes I do. Should I not?

You clearly have no idea about the dynamics of our program and this coaching search, maybe you should just bow out

I still believe LSU could have made a much better hire, so yes, I dislike it.

However, I'm glad that he is making moves. Retaining Aranda and going out for Canada are solid. Obviously I plan on supporting the guy and hoping for the best. These are good moves to be on that path. However, we could have done much, much better regardless.

Yes. I am very happy with our coordinators but we still have a head coach that failed miserably at his first job, and has let some very good Louisiana recruits slip through his fingers.

But as a fan all I can do is support my coach and my team, and honestly hope he succeeds. Or we could have another Archer.

If that is true and they're that close, wouldn't you say Aranda not going to Texas for Herman was a "win" for O? I just don't think you can discount that as easily as you seem to be doing. I imagine the idea of them working together had to have crossed their minds.

dislike....more like despise.

I just can't give much credit to O for KEEPING Aranda, while making him the top paid coordinator in football. I am hopeful that Aranda and Canada came overcome the deficiencies of O and help LSU be successful.

O still has issues.

This relationship was very exaggerated. They are not great friends or anything. Aranda and his family are VERY happy here and he was not going to make a lateral move to UT. I dont even believe Aranda was Herman's first choice anyways.

The process that resulted in his hire will always be a joke. Hopefully he wins enough to over shadow the complete incompetence of Joe Alleva.

What did he do that was so special?

Keep one of the top DCs who was already here? Genius move. Nobody would have thought of that.

Go after the one offensive Broyles award finalist? O really knows how to find a diamond in the rough

A retarded monkey could have made those decisions. Seriously. The fact that he did what anyone with a brain would have done doesn't mean he was qualified for the job.

I missed this one. Upvote for the creativity. You'll have to ask a Tech fan, though.

Some credit, but you said picks. He didn't pick him. He just worked to keep him. Miles picked him, O kept him.

Optimistic. At the least I am excited to see a coordinator with control of the offense

Even If LSU wins 16 Nattys with Coach O it should not discount how horribly Alleva handled the past 12 months

Yes.

While Canada was a great hire, it shouldn't be lost on anyone that O tried his damndest to make the wrong hire. He made the right move in spite of his best efforts.

Yes. Idk why people now have this belief that the HC doesn't matter as long as he has good coordinators. Call me crazy but I prefer a head coach who can actually contribute as a coach on either side of the ball. If we hired a decent head coach with the two coordinators we now have I think we'd be right back to contending and that is the most frustrating part. We fricked up the most important part of the team.

he did not hire aranda. miles did.

secondly, the fact we have to depend on two coordinators and not just one since O cannot coach one side of the ball actually places more stress on O to win and win now! these guys won't be here forever. 3 years tops with both of these together. Doubtful canada stays here 7 years like jimbo did.

O better WIN NOW!

You may have just made the most logical argument against O I've seen with regard to the coordinators. That said, were y'all not mildly excited about Kiffin (I still think he would have been a mistake)?
