Does Wilkerson even have a job currently? Safe to say I'm pretty sure he'd be interested

Whether or not Mawae actually wants to full time coach is another story. I'm thinking Cam gets to make this hire though

Wilkerson and Mawae (and Sale) may be great options in like 3-4 years. But not right now. Gotta get someone with some mid-major D1 experience (at the least).

eta: Agree with Cam making the hire though.

Exactly, I don't understand why some of you goofballs are more interested in having an LSU guy as O-line coach rather than the guy most qualified for the job.
No offense to Wilkerson or maewae, but neither are proven as big time offensive line coaches. With the infrastructure we have in place we can really pull in someone with skins on the wall in college or nfl. Much better selling points to recruits than we picked this guy because he played at LSU.

I think Mawae could handle the coaching aspect of it, I just question whether or not he'd want to do the recruiting. Let's face it, this staff needs both.

Key word: think

Why not bring in someone who has proven he can do it? It's like you have a Lamborghini, but you want to throw in an off brand fuel filter.

Is this something that will actually happen? Or is it just wishful thinking? Mike Detiller said the same thing about the poor OL coaching.

We could hire Trai Turner to be Oline coach. I doubt he has a job next year.

Yea we gotta wait until after NSD. We can't risk losing all those top recruits Stud is bringing in.

Wilkerson's goal is to make it back to LSU as a coach. I don't think he's qualified for the job though. 1 year at grambling doesn't prepare you for LSU.

Mawae probably isn't interested in coaching at this point. At least not at this level. He'd rather be with his family from what I remember hearing.

I'd look for an o-line guy that has connections with Cameron.

Have you watched any games at all this year and paid specific attention to the OL?

I have. The OL is GREAT at run blocking. They are GREAT at pass blocking, at times, but all too often just collapse like tissue if a big rush comes on.

I honestly don't know if it is talent at the tackle position, technique, coaching or some combination.

(Jennings needs to get rid of the ball, though - 2 of those sacks were after a solid 3 seconds.)

Kevin Mawae would be a good hire. The dude understand technique...it shouldn't be hard for him to coach it. Recruiting? I have no idea. I'd imagine it would be an easy sell for him to recruit as a former o-lineman with tons of accolades in the pros. He's former LSU too so you know he's not going to get lazy and he'll show passion in his coaching.
