+1
This is huge thought to the whole process
If Saban wins anotther Championship at Bama he'd still be behind one of Bama's greatest coaches(The Bear). Winning a title at Bama would be expected moving forward and have Saban in the conversation for greatest CFB HC ever. Now going to Texas and winning a 3rd Title for 3 different programs puts all that to bed. Saban would be all alone when mentioning the greatest CFB HC ever. That's not a knock at Bama but just the way it is........

****EDIT****
Plus like you said
That 3rd Title record is almost untouchable too

There is really nothing left to accomplish at Bama. If Saban is driven by challenge and cares about his legacy then Texas ought to be his choice.

The next 48 hours will be interesting.

Depends on when I planned on retiring. If I was retiring in the next few years, I wouldn't bother leaving. If I had another 7-10 years left in me, I'm gone.

Texas is a dumpster fire. Why put yourself through that at 62? Not going to happen.

And to me that would depend on the amount of truth there is in the Saban debt story. If it is true and that significant, he may not be able to retire in the next few years even if he stays, depending on how much debt he is in. Hard to imagine he would be in that shape financially, but if it can happen to Rocky Balboa, it can happen to anybody.

probably leave but it is difficult to say because I'm not in a situation like Saban's there is more to leaving than just does it make me better off. Saban still has a great job in Bama, the question becomes am I will to get up and move and sacrifice the things I have here in Alabama that I have developed here in Bama.

so for me if I had a large group of friends where I lived if I like where I lived in the city, if my family didn't want to move, if I didn't really know anyone where I was moving, etc. I may not move. But even with all of that in mind possibly doubling my salary may be enough for me to sacrifice that.

I would go for several reasons including money, The city of Austin, no Bama fans etc.

There is one more point that no one has brought up yet. I lived in Austin for a few years and there are tons of celebrities that live in Austin. The people in Austin don't think that the celebrities are a big deal.
I have been in line at a bar with Sandra Bullock standing right beside me. The thing was no, one went up to her and tried to get autographs are even acknowledged her. Nick could actually have a life in Austin. He could go to a restaurant for dinner without people hounding him.
In Tuscaloosa I could see some redneck going up to him during his meal and asking him "Why didn't you have someone covering the missed field goal attempt".

My answer is I would go for a more normal life.

Biased response here because I hate everything even remotely associated with Bama, but I would leave. He can basically name whatever price he wants, whatever perks he wants, he can say what he will and want do per a new contract, and I mean come on the fan base he would be going to is much more "normal". I think Terry would be much happier in Austin. He would have much less competition in that conference for recruits and victories. But the bottom line, as much as Bama fans want to say "he loves Bama" and if he stays they will talk about how loyal he is to them, but everyone knows it is all about Nick. He has no feelings when it comes to "business" decisions and no loyalties, so whomever he thinks he can get over on the most, he will but I would think UT would be a much easier place to ease into retirement.

This is nuts. I've seen so many people saying things like "Saban is going to UT so he can have a challenge." Winning at Texas is a challenge? Come on. If Saban wanted a challenge he could take over at Wake Forest.
