FYI Muschamp is not going anywhere....he is now at home. He grew up in Gainesville and was a huge Gator fan...his kids will grow up in Gainesville and his wife and his family all love living in Florida.

IMO - Art Briles is the perfect fit for Texas - The guy speaks "Texan".

Besides money, what would be the motivation for Saban/Meyer/Muschamp leaving their current jobs for Texas?

none other than being in a two team conference

I agree Chicken, Shaw is the one if Brown does step down

Hey, if you don't mind me asking, where do you stand on Mack and who would you want as a new coach?

Im sure Saban is flattered by all this. But whats more impressive. Winning more titles while in the SEC than anyone ever, or winning three at three different schools. Winning one in the SEC is like winning two in any other conference. SEC,SEC,SEC, and Roll Tide.

Incorrect. Saban has something to prove...as an NFL head coach. Will he ever take the bait again? Time's a-ticking

That's where I really think he will go if he leaves Bama. its the one kind of bad mark on his resume. Texas can't offer more than Bama can match, but the NFL can.

No matter how we finish out the season we need to plot the course for the future and that future should start with a new HC and shortly after AD.

My HC wishlist would include Petersen, Patterson, Strong, and possibly Fedora. Muschamp and Meyer aren't coming(but I would still place a call and swing for the fences.) I want a younger coach who has a fire and passion that not many of these super rich coaches still have after they've reached their sixties. Ties to Texas high schools would be an added benefit with recruiting.

You had a great list till this name popped up..DO NOT WANT..

Look, you make people tell you no..Its all you can do.So go after harbaugh, saban etc etc..people who would be homerun hires..

Then when they all say no, go after people who can win RIGHT NOW..Shaw, patterson, peterson etc..

Fedora, is a younger, yet experienced coach with some strong ties to Texas HS football. He would at least be on my prospective list of candidates not saying he's near the top. Why the DO NOT WANT?

I'm right there with ya, especially with Harbaugh. Saban would be a homerun hire though it would be strictly a short term fix for a few years before we are looking for another HC. Also, a homerun hire in my book is not just a name coach but any coach who can come in and win football games...especially the one in Dallas without needing a VY or Colt as the QB.

Got to this thread late and too lazy to read the whole thing.

Did chicken say why he was told "no" in regards to Patterson? Are the rumors true? He's just too locked in there? Extra benefits attached to his contract with oil monies and such?

No, I am sure Patterson is in play for UT, but apparently TCU's off the field troubles lately have cooled some UT boosters on him. I was told Shaw had better chance.

I had heard Chuck Oliver say a week or two ago not to be surprised if they made a run at Richt.

I had to chew on it a few days after laughing about it. But idk now. He is, at minimum an extremely stable HC with a ver solid W/L record in the SEC

The fanbase here may be torn on him, but things look a little different from afar sometimes
