In 4 years he would have Texas at a level much higher than he has Alabama at currently. He's not leaving.. but you can at least recognize the reality that he would at least consider it.

I don't think Saban has anything to prove, and he knows that. If he would have been able to forsee the future, I don't think he would have ever left LSU. He loves college football, and I think he knows exactly what he has now. He will be at Bama till he is done coaching.

First, I don't think he's leaving for anywhere but Lake Burton. Second, how could he improve upon what he's done the last five years at Alabama? He is 59-7 in that time period with two national titles. There have only been a handful of runs in college football on that level. He'll also have chance to play for three national titles in four years, with a win against Georgia on Saturday. Only 1994-1997 Nebraska can claim that.

He'd lose less games over the same timespan in the Big12. What program there could compete with his style of football? He wins at Alabama and recruits like a beast at Alabama.. he can just do it at Texas more easily. I don't think he leaves, but if he won it all at Texas he would go down as the GOAT and it wouldn't be close.

He'd lose 2 games his first season and 1 his 2nd season. After that.. he might win 39 straight, seriously. He could then retire, be elected Governor of Texas, and then POTUS a few years after that.

I already said he's not going anywhere, but I can see why he will consider the offer. Both Saban and Miles have less than 5 years left in the tank either way you spin it. I'd prefer him to stay at Alabama.. I don't want Texas at a high level.. because regardless of who Alabama hires they will stay at a high level.

I don't think saban wants to "try a new challenge". Each season and each team IS the new challenge.

I could go into the 'Bama will match any offer' (which is true), and the myriad of other reasons why this wouldn't happen, but the one no one mentions that is a BIG factor is LHN. People think of it as a recruiting advantage, but it isn't yet. At present it's just a headache for the HC of the football program. It is more access than any HC wants to grant and it is damn sure more than Saban would put up with. You all know what type of control freak he is.

When KSU kicks our arse this weekend, I am almost positive that we will see Brown announce his resignation effective after whatever crappy bowl we go to.

I'm almost positive that at least some booster have asked Sexton to gauge his clients' interest in the job - but he reps so many then who knows. I also am pretty sure that one or more friends of Muschamp have informally asked him if he'd be interested and he said no.

If Urban was still at ESPN I would say he's the front runner - but don't think he's leaving OSU no matter what we offer. Same with Saban but less conviction with that. I think it will be hard to pull Shaw from Stanford since he's an alum.

Fedora would not shock me (but would underwhelm me). Patterson would surprise me a bit because we have not taken coaches from conference schools.

I still think it's Petersen - Boise and Texas staffs have had a lot of contact in the last few years in the summers. Petersen has had the chance to meet a lot of people both in the athletic office and outside of it.

I think if you dwell long enough, you can make yourself believe anything. Real talk. With that being said, I don't think Saban leaves Bama til he retires. Roll Tide and carry on my friends.

It would make Saban look like a huge URban Meyer type pussy if he were to leave the SEC for the limp dick conference.

Haven't read the entire thread but I would say:

Saban (20% chance he accepts)
Meyer(5%)
Muschamp(60%)
Shaw(100%)

I don't think Muschamp is that big of a long shot. I seem to remember him and his family loving Austin when they were there, plus the money, plus the familiarity of the place doesn't hurt.

If the money is right, I could see Muschamp leaving. But UF has money too and could compete with Texas

True. Muschamp could use the Texas opening for a much larger raise than he will already be getting if he wanted to. There would be some interesting names thrown around the opening if it got past Muschamp. Lots of names out of left field I would think because of the money involved

Just like the Bammers are trying to convince him to stay.

Some one mentioned legacy mode. What more does he have to prove at Bama? If he wins this year it would be 3 in 4 years. Only one other coach has done that. I know you Bammers think its just the beginning, he will win 4,5,6 in a row, ROLL TYDE PAWL!!!. The truth is Alabama was very fortunate to get into the NC Game 2 years in a row (assuming you get in this year). You can shout 21-0, 21-17 all you want, call me names all you want, but no one understands how fortunate Bama has been more than Nick Saban (and please note, being fortunate in no way means the team wasn't great, or undeserving or not the best, it just means you needed breaks beyind your control to get into the NCG). What happens if you don't those breaks next time? Would all be happy in gumpville right now if all you got for winning the SEC CG was a trip to the Sugar Bowl? I doubt it and Saban knows it. Staying another 4-5 years is a big risk for him. What if he doesn't win another? What would his legacy be then?

The worst Texas could finish this year is 8-5. LSU won 7 games the 2 years before he got here and he won 8 his first year and the SEC his 2nd. He took Bama from 6 wins to 12-0 in his 2nd year. He could win 10 at Texas next year. He could really establish himself as one of the all time greats if he wins a NC at 3 different schools.

Muschamp liked Austin and UT - I'm pretty sure he didn't like being strung along and then unfairly bad-mouthed by some big time booster as he left just to prop up Mack and make it sound like Manny Diaz was better. I would be amazed if he came back and like I said earlier, I'm pretty sure informal queries have been made and he's said no.

Incorrect. Saban has something to prove...as an NFL head coach. Will he ever take the bait again? Time's a-ticking.
