Miles kept Jimbo, although it might have been shaped by Gundy staying behind as HC at Okie Light

I keep seeing people wanting Fleck. Why would you take Fleck over Aranda? I personally would prefer Aranda

Lets see, Fleck:

has HC experience
Is a proven excellent recruiter
Has proven he can build a program
Is a great motivator

Yea, Fleck may need one more stop in between Western Michigan and a big program like us, but he's proven to be all of these things at his current position. He might be the complete package. Just needs to prove it on a high scale.

He definitely looked very jittery and nervous about something, even ahead 38-10 late in the 4th. Maybe he was told something.

My father in law and I both said that Ed O didn't look very happy after the game, especially during the coach handshake.

Smoke screen. I can see everything the OP put as a great possibility but that it's Herman not fisher.

Lord knows we don't want FSU's DC. If Jimbo wants the bring him as DC, that needs to be a deal breaker. Maybe as a position coach, but not as DC.

I'd be ok with either one

Has a deadline to take it or leave it been given? I'd assume the preference is to have the new coach in place by the second week of December at the latest.

I would hope so. You'd have to think Fleck and other candidates will start getting inquiries from other teams if that hasn't already started. I want Jimbo but we can't let him mull this over forever. We risk holding a big bag of nothing during bowl season.

Every coach in America is well aware of the LSU job. They've had time to weigh their family, friends, professional prospects, etc.

The coaching carousel doesn't start spinning until the LSU job is filled, IMO. Unless Texas comes open, LSU is the single biggest job opening in the country.

. I know of the standing offer and the stipulation that aranda has to be retained and given a raise with potential kick backs

So if Jimbo wants to bring his own guy in, they'll tell him no thanks on being the next head coach? Cmon, man.

i think it's more likely just leverage for negotiation

You don't tell the guy you want that he has to do anything. I'm not saying he wouldn't keep Aranda, I'm just saying you don't fire your head coach, not offer your DC, but demand the next guy keep your DC. Not unless you want to get the Heisman from a major ego like a top 5 coach.

Aranda greater than Fleck.

Fleck is just a hype machine. True X and O geniuses are hard to find.

Yeah, you kinda do. And when you have the best DC in college football he should want to keep him. While it isn't always a part of negotiations with a new coach this isn't the first time there has been a requirement to retain a certain coach. Given that defense has been the problem at FSU, I think he'd love to have an Aranda defense to compliment his offense.

Do you know if they fired Les without gauging Jimbo or Hermans interest in the job? Seems like they would've done that before firing miles. Any info on that? Thanks.
