I'm frankly surprised ADs don't do coaching searches themselves. They are essentially paying someone else to do their job. I mean, hiring coaches has to be #1 or #2 on the list of an AD's responsibilities.

They need to be able to say, "I have not contacted (insert candidate) about the job."

IF JG was to get hired as HC, the first person he should hire is Coach O, as 1) LK is on his way out at USCw, sooner rather than much later 2) Coach O knows how to recruit in the SEC ( think $$$$$$$).

actually, search firms at a lot of value. they bypass the FOIA, which can be a burden at a public university. but they also always have a list of who would leave for certain jobs. coaches are pretty candid w/ search firms because they know they can help them advance their career down the road. and search firms don't make the hire, they usually just pass on a few interested candidates that the AD gets to interview and hire from.

So this cat Res Wucker is reporting the story about possible ST hiring? Damn.

I know Jon is going to have a clause in his contract that allows him to place cardboard life size cut out of himself and leave the entire recruiting controls in the hands of his two coordinators. He will leave in January and return for March spring ball practices...he will need time off to vacation in Fla at his luxury beachfront condo. Shouldnt be a problem.

Yes yes its going to happen. The best special teams coach in the NFL who could get a job anywhere he wanted in the league is going to take a pay cut and come coach special teams in the NCAA. Believe it its going to happen. This isn't fantasy land.

If Gruden comes to Knoxville, Bisaccia will absolutely be on staff with him. Laugh all you want.

Well, as an FYI--Bisaccia had agreed to come to TN last year under Dooley but was unable to get out of his Chargers contract. If he'd coach for Derek Damn Dooley, don't you think he'd try to come coach with one of his best friends?

Has a major university's athletic department ever gone bankrupt? If not, I have a hunch who might be the first.

Well since we just announced that we're reinvesting 18 million in the AD that would normally be given to the academic side then I would be curious who you think as well.

I hope Tennessee gets Gruden. Not so much because I want Tennessee to be good but because I want this fricking constant, every year cocksucking of a mediocre to solid coach to stop. I hope he gets hired by someone and finally proves to people that he isn't as good as everyone seems to think he is. He is not built for college football. His personality is too big and too volatile for college kid and college administrators who have to concern themselves with pc.
