Refresh my memory - what did Spurrier do in 1993?

Well,Florida beat us 58-3 in what is LSU's worst loss ever. That was an awful team we had,and Florida won the SEC and Sugar Bowl that year.I was at that game and really don't remember him doing anything.

Spurrier isn't a punt on first down guy.

Ace and Slow- where are you getting this from? Miles to Mich may happen, though I think that is far from done. Mich will take their time and interview a lot of people.

And the Spurrier stuff is just crazy, unless you've got any shred of contact being made.

BTW- Tenuta is gonna be HC at GT

Throwing deep balls in the 4th quarter in somebody else's stadium up by 40+ points is what I'm having problems with.

I would start to wince if we were AT Oxford, up 45-3, early in the 4th quarter and my QB started throwing passes deeper than 5-7 yards. If you break open an inside run, no you don't coach the kid to fall down. If you throw a little screen or pass in the flat and the defender misses a tackle and you have a backup in trying to prove himself, fine. However, you don't just keep firing (and making the finger pistol gestures and laughing on the sidelines) and just rub somebody's nose in it because they didn't hire you. And if you do, don't expect them to forget.

That's what he did. And I never forget.

He was only "classeless" and "big headed" and "egotistical" because he kicked our arse every year.

Why is 62 too old? Saban, Belichick, and Pete Carroll are all 55-56. Spurrier fell off that much in 5 years? Hell, Keith Richards is 63 and that dude is still getting loaded and falling out of coconut trees.

IMO, a if a coach is going to ask a player to play for 60 minutes, he needs to call plays like he expects it. Which means, run your entire offensive and defensive packages for the entire game.

No argument.

He'd already beaten our arse. It was just unnecessary disrespect and humiliation. He'd already I resented it then, and I resent it now. I don't want my institution, the recipient of this beating, to throw obscene amounts of money at the meglomaniac. That's all I'm saying.

That has nothing to do with age. Spurrier for 4 or 5 years would be a good move.
