$5 million goes a lot further in Michigan than it does in San Fran.

Jim Harbaugh told Hackett he did NOT want to be the highest paid coach in CFB, or even the Big Ten. More concerned with pay for assistants.

This guy gets it.

Absolutely. It was never, ever about the money for him during this process. He passionately wanted to return to his alma mater. He accepted the job many days ago.

LOL. There is no evidence of this.

Guy got fired. Job at his alma mater was open. Good for him, but let's not knight the guy, m'kay?

There's only about 30 minutes of hard, concrete video evidence

Why would a successful NFL coach go back to college? I just don't get it.

Why don't you get it? Which authority made it a law that the NFL must be considered better than college?

Jim Harbaugh spent his youth singing the victors at the big house. He spent the greatest years of his life beating the buckeyes during the Reagan years.

This is awesome, and any CFB fan should appreciate such a cool, surreal storyline.

Jimmy came home to old Ann Arbor Town. He came home to touch the banner, to throw his fist in the air as those famous fight song verses are sung in resounding unison by one hundred thousand people.

What's even better? NFL teams threw unprecedented offers at him, and he told the NFL to go frick itself.

I was thinking the other thing this does is take the pressure off of him to win a NC right away.
Yep. Buys him a couple years, which he'll get anyway, but with less immediate expectations.

I would guess pro style. The rumor is he wants to bring Greg Roman to run his offense.

Man, contrast that "concern for others" attitude with Chavis.

Do you really believe that bs you just posted? I've always favored Michigan in the Big 10. Toy just made me hate them a little bit.

Damn, I like him even more now. He will run the Big 10 within 3 years

@ years ago in Feb we had a big business conference at the JW Marriott in Indy. It was ending right as the combine was starting. On our last night a few of my co workers started rubbing elbows with coaches at the hotel bars. Shanahan and Jeff Fisher were pretty much non approachable.

In strolls Harbaugh late one night with his bags in tow. Two people I was with approached him before he got to the elevator. I watched the whole thing from a distance. He smailed, talked with them for what seemed forever and took a few photos with them. Later he went off to his room. They said he was one of the nicest people you will ever meet. His comment to them was "I can't wait to get to my room and get sole control of the TV remote. I have to watch kid shows at home". (He had young kids at the house evidently)

I have never been a Harbaugh fan but the guy deserves props... He is different from the rest IMO.

You knew that $8M per year stuff was a bit off. Couldn't make him the highest paid until he has proven to be the best in cfb. I think he'll be highest paid in B1G within 2 years though.

If anything based on his record he would deserve to be the highest paid

I must say this move really shocked me. I just could not see a proven NFL coach who is undoubtedly top 8 in ?the league dropping down to coach college. Must says how much he love not only ?the game of football, but his Alma mater as well.
