Good for him. Glad to hear that it's not the $8 million originally reported. That, I think, would have set a bad trend in college sports.

You knew that $8M per year stuff was a bit off. Couldn't make him the highest paid until he has proven to be the best in cfb. I think he'll be highest paid in B1G within 2 years though.

I was thinking the other thing this does is take the pressure off of him to win a NC right away.

8 million = Saban level pressure without the talent Alabama has.

The $5 million per year allows him a few years to build the program to elite status again.

I'm sure he'll be in the $7 million per year range soon enough.
