What AD in a BCS conference has watched this guy's play calling and said, "Oh yeah, we need him as our OC."???

This was one of the quotes from the Article. I read this and kept thinking...I guess it's Les. Then they started talking about his crappy cliches and choppy, headspinning interviews and I just started dying laughing.

Could you imagine that phone interview between les and Krags.

Didn't he coach under Petrino one year as his OC? Regardless...looking at those UL comments getting a disturbing deja vu from Crowton.

Tulsa fans even claimed they improved on offense when he left...

**Edit**

NVM, looked at his bio again...apparently he didn't?

I don't know about Krags, but I have spoken to Les before and the funny thing is that he doesn't speak to regular ppl like he does to the media. There are no "uhs..." or "wants" or "qualities". He sounds like a normal person. I guess he just isn't one for the media, cuz he was fine to talk to when I spoke to him.

Gonzales was hired more for his recruiting prowess than any thing. He is a good position coach but I'm not sure if he's OC material yet.I say give him a chance. He can't do worse than Crowton.

For those thinking GC might be going to Chicago Bears as OC, think again:

I'm pretty sure no one thought that.

I had heard he might head up there as QB coach (lol) but never for an OC position. Take that FWIW since i'm sure I heard that on here somewhere.

I am hearing that discussions are ongoing this week if Crowton will be retained as OC. The buyout is 1 million.

Is it normal for asst coaches to have buy outs? This doesn't make sense. HC sure but I don't remember other schools having this issue (outside of the coach in waiting deals)

Anytime you have a contract there is a "buyout."

GC has a three year contract with two years left. Most schools have coaches on one year contracts thus they can get rid of them after the season and owe nothing.

I really hope they decide to get rid of him. Also heard Miles and Crowton aren't getting along at all. Miles is gone after next year assuming we don't win the SEC.

Les signs a $3.75 million contract after 2007 and goes 8-8 in the SEC since, 9 losses in total and lots of close calls to rent-a-wins. Has yet to fire a coach, even McCarthy, who was violating NCAA rules and is still getting paid. Mallory, Peveto and now Crowton are allowed to collect bonuses and are either retained or allowed to coach at LSU as long as they need to, until gaining other employment.

And people make fun of JaMarcus after signing his huge deal with the Raiders. Les isn't worried about LSU, he's worried about getting paid and taking care of his crew.

I also thought their was something to this...

Apparently not. More of a reason why LSU's management has gone to shite the past few years in handling contracts...

He doesn't have a buyout per say, but LSU would owe him the remainder of the contract ($500K times 2 years) if he is released.

Although, 108th offense in the country seems like "cause" for termination.

I would think LSU can get out of this contract for less than 1 million.

If he takes a job somewhere else, doesn't that mean technically LSU doesn't have to pay him his contract since he wasn't "terminated"?

I don't think he's lost his drive or anything. He's simply just not worth the price tag.
