Most of the SEC is running spread now. It's pretty much a myth that it doesn't work in the SEC.

You guys use the term "spread" very loosely. Kelly ran the spread option at Oregon, and would likely run it again in college. The only team in the SEC that runs something similar is Auburn. UT, Ole Miss and State have QB run wrinkles, but use bigger lines and are more pass heavy. They aren't spread option teams. Bama isn't even close. They are more of a multiple single-back offense.

A&M ran it with Manziel and with KK at OC, but they aren't running as much spread option these days, except when Kyler Murray was playing. UF ran it when Meyer was there.

Auburn has been boom or bust with the spread option. UF was obviously great with Tebow, but it's tough to run a spread option in the SEC without a guy like him or Scam. They don't grow on trees.

Some complain Chip doesn't like dealing with boosters. Which coach does? Saban hates that shite, but he manages.

saban seems to be able to turn the charm on and off. i don't see that with chip.

edit: but it wouldn't matter because chip would destroy all with lsu athletes.

The bigger problem with chip is what BilJ said, the NFL season caused to late of a transition

Kelly would figure out a way to get Fournette and Guice in space.

Don't know what to tell you or how to get this in your head. Miles has been fired. He is done. If you don't believe me go listen to the radio show Wednesday night with most of his avid callers crying their eyes out when on the phone or in person. Everyone around him seems to get the picture, some of you can't.

He isn't fired until someone steps in front of a podium and says it in a press conference. Period. Anything else is what we have now. bullshite theories and hearsay. A court of law would back my definition over yours.

Get that through your head.

Herman may scare some of the folks who still have abandonment issues from saban leaving for the NFL

Texas will always be an issue. At some point the nfl might be too.

Speaking of Herman, maybe that would jive with him removing himself from the USCe search?

yup. just because you don't get along or agree with how someone behaves doesn't make someone racist.

I'm just reading up on Herman. I like him, but the one year HC experience is concerning.

His pedigree, past success and past experiences seem to indicate success.

I really hope we hire him and throw in some absurd buy out clause to pay when he sucks in three years.

It would be interesting to see what kind of offense Herman would run here. OSU did run plenty of spread, but they also threw the ball downfield with JT Barrett, and would line up and power run with Elliot, as well. I think he would tailor an offense to fit what we have now that could work very well.

He's done a good job of putting his QB at Houston in a good position to succeed. He wasn't a good passer at all last year, but he has definitely improved a lot this year. They looked dynamite against a very well coached Navy team today.
