What's baffling is that you think you know for a fact that no college team in America has tried to hire O.
I know for a fact that he actively perused the Syracuse job last year and didn't even get an interview. That's not a good sign.

Anyway, I'm not worried, cause he will lose at least 2 out of the remaining games, and i don't think that'll cut it, no matter how gullible our admins and fans are.

The locker room is much more united than they were under Miles. Idk if i had posted that on here but the locker room was split. Morale was low. Been a 180 in a very short time. Many players, Admins, Donors are very happy with him.
I always liked Miles, but the more stuff like this that comes out, the more stubborn it makes him look.
His redeeming quality was supposedly his relationship with players, coaches, etc. and overall good guy persona. That's slowly disintegrating into stubborn and spiteful.
He's still a good guy. He'd never throw LSU under the bus publicly i would imagine, but he simply refused to change anything and apparently even the players resented that. That's not a good quality.

some of you are saying that even if O wins the SEC, he can frick off.
So if herman or fisher say yes you still want O if he wins the SEC?

Was the split about brandon harris and Danny etling or something les miles did?

Les lied about telling JJ to spike it at Ole Miss in 2009. Les was definitely saying "spike it" but he blamed the kid.

I truly hope they aren't dense enough to pass on a Herman or Fisher hire for coach O. If either of them say yes it doesn't matter what O does, imo.
Both those coaches have better HC resumes than O. O should try and prove himself as HC somewhere else a few years. Hell, if he kills it at another HC job and our next coach is a dunce we just call him up for another interview.

Saban's HC resume before LSU was much better than Coach O's.

that's not true. We should be favored for the remainder of games on our schedule outside of Bama.
Even if he finishes with 1 loss that does not mean he's earned this job. He'll have taken an extremely talented group of guys and got them to beat teams they're better than.
This won't tell us he's capable of maintaining the program long term. There's way more risk than reward if you promote O.
Been saying this for weeks now. What he's doing now is buttering up to all the right people
- I will pass more
- I want to hang 60+ on teams
- I want to recruit pro style QBs
etc, etc, etc. He'll fire up this already uber talented and very experienced team and win no less than 5 regular season games, but even if he only has one loss or no regular season losses, almost all that experienced and immense talent will be gone after this year. We have no idea how he can run a program 24/7, 365, and his ability to sustain success.
I also don't like his stance on using a pro style system. That needs to finally be out of LSU after this year. The spread is the perfect system for Louisiana and Texas based teams and we are doing ourselves a HUGE disservice by swimming against the current.

I love coach o and want to keep him on staff but Lsu is a top 10 program. Shouldn't be giving second chances to ole miss castoffs when there are top tier coaches who would be interested.
If o runs the table that would be a huge indictment on les miles. And would show that even mediocre coaches can succeed here and a great coach could dominate.
And before anybody mentions the 80s and early 90s, this is a different program. In those days we hired cheap(hallman) local(Stovall) unproven assistants (archer) , sec retreads (dinardo) to be our coach. O would be all of those. The winning formula is top notch facilities, and throwing big bucks at coach and assistants that are already proven. Saban showed the way and It was continued with (or in spite of) Miles.
If the people in charge blow this hire by thinking the coach O emotion is sustainable, then they all should be canned. Right now there's new life in the program, that's what happens wHen things have gotten stale and then a sudden change happens. (look at terry Bowden when he took over for pat dye) . Might be enough to last this season, maybe even next. But sustaining a top 10 program is totally different than what we are doing now. We need a legit game planner that can go head to head with Saban and Urban.
No other big school is going after coach o. If saban retires today, who would bama be calling? Dabo, jimbo, herman. They're not giving the keys to Lane kiffin hoping he learned his lesson and will do better this time.

I like Coach O, but I agree, not sure he's the long-term answer.
Emotion is taking over, which is dangerous. Just about everyone was tired of Miles so there is a natural euphoria once he was gone, but that's not sustainable.
We've seen this play out before. How many times has a maligned player or coach left only to see the replacement become the darling and initially do very well only to fade out.
I can think of a few local ones...
Dan Dickau replacing the hated Baron Davis
John Fourcade coming in for Hebert
Then there are examples like Bill Stewart at West Virginia taking over for Rich Rod. That would be the disaster scenario for LSU.
On the flip side, I think that dipshit Dabo was an interim. He maybe the upside version of O. Good CEO coach but no real Xs and Os skills just great coordinators and motivator. I really can't stand his Southern baptist shtick. It would work in most places in the South I guess but I digress.

Please 8 pound 6 ounce baby Jesus let LSU hire Ed Orgeron. The SEC West needs an auto win for the rest of the division.
